Ligue 1 Preview: Paris Saint-Germain - Guingamp

The French champions finally recorded their first victory of the new season last week and will be hoping to kickstart their title defense

Paris Saint-Germain could welcome Jeremy Menez back into its squad for Saturday's visit of Guingamp to the Parc des Princes in Ligue 1.

The France international has not featured since the end of last term due to a back injury, which required surgery in the close-season, but he returned to training on Tuesday and Laurent Blanc could utilize the winger in an attempt to shake up PSG's stuttering start to the season.

The champions picked up its first league victory of the campaign last week, triumphing 2-1 at Nantes thanks to Ezequiel Lavezzi's late winner, having previously drawn with Montpellier and Ajaccio.

Menez told the club's official website: "I had my operation on July 9, which went well. I then had to stay at home, often for an elongated time. I have good feelings, and it is good to return to the group. I feel very good, I'm glad. Not being able to be at the training ground was hard, but it was for my own good.

"This motivated me and pushed me to work daily. This is the main thing that I will remember from this period."

Menez's return means Blanc has no injuries or suspensions to concern him ahead of the match against the newly promoted side, who also grabbed their first three points of the season last weekend.

Two goals from Mustapha Yatabare sealed a 2-0 win over Lorient, with Jocelyn Gourvennec's side having previously lost to Marseille and Saint-Etienne.

Veteran striker Cedric Faure remains on the sidelines with a calf injury, while defender Gregory Cerdan missed last week's match due to personal reasons and may be unavailable again.

Yatabare was Ligue 2's top scorer last season as the Breton club secured promotion in second place, but Gourvennec will be hoping for his teammates to ease the goalscoring burden upon him as he the only Guingamp player to have found the net so far this term.
