Portland moved into second in the West with an emphatic win over Chivas USA in JELD-WEN Field.
Portland first put the ball in the back of the net in the 13th minute. Mamadou Danso lifted the ball delicately over the onrushing Patrick McLain, Kennedy's replacement, but was offside on the initial pass.
The first goal that counted came 10 minutes before halftime. On a counterattack, Ryan Johnson chipped the ball wide to Rodney Wallace. Wallace trapped with his head and slipped a shot past McLain.
Wallace turned provider for the game's second. In the 70th minute, he spun at the top of the box and slotted the ball through the Chivas USA defense. Diego Valeri finished the chance and the match.
Will Johnson struck in stoppage time to round out the scoring. From a short corner, Johnson buzzed to the top of the box and curled a shot inside the far post.
Chivas USA is last in the Western Conference.
