The Whitecaps and Union meet on Saturday having both come off high-scoring victories last weekend. The high-flying Vancouver Whitecaps take their free-scoring ways on the road this weekend, heading eastward to visit the Philadelphia Union at PPL Park.
The 'Caps are riding a six-game unbeaten streak in league play, including three wins out of the last four matches. Their most recent game was a back-and-forth slug fest with Cascadia rivals Portland Timbers that ended 4-3 in favor of the Whitecaps, and Carl Robinson will look to bring the same high energy game to Saturay's match.
Historically, meetings between Vancouver and Philadelphia have never seen more than one goal scored. The four total matches involving these sides have only produced three goals, so any multi-goal outburst would be bucking the trend established since the Whitecaps joined MLS in 2011.
Philadelphia is coming off a high-scoring win of its own, having downed Chivas USA 3-0 at the StubHub Center last week. Despite the big win, the Union have struggled to pick up points so far in 2014, with just 14 from 15 matches played.
The match kicks off at 7:00 p.m. EDT at PPL Park in Chester, Pennsylvania.
