DID YOU KNOW?
  • The heat is on Union head coach and Piotr Nowak as the Union have dropped three straight to start the season. If they do not get a result against the team that will likely start two players Nowak traded away in the offseason (Sebastien Le Toux and Jordan Harvey), the level of discontent at PPL Park is only sure to rise.
  • The Whitecaps, on the other hand, find themselves atop the Western Conference after three games, and are the only team in MLS yet to concede in 2012. After opening the season with two straight wins, the team most recently ground out a 0-0 draw with D.C. United.
  • Though most U.S. fans are likely upset over the national team's elimination from Olympic qualifying, Nowak will count himself fortunate to have Freddy Adu and Amobi Okugo back for his side.
  • As last season was Vancouver's first in MLS, this will be only the third meeting between the two sides. Each team won 1-0 at home in the 2011 season.
  • Though not listed in Tuesday's injury report, Whitecaps FC forward Eric Hassli will not travel for the game due to an ankle injury. Vancouver head coach Martin Rennie has a number of choices to replace the Frenchman, including Chinese forward Long Tan, who played four minutes in the D.C. United game.
