Olimpia 0-2 Sporting Kansas City: Saad double maintains perfect KC campaign

The forward grabbed a goal in either half to keep Sporting golden at the top of Group 2.

Sporting Kansas City maintained a 100 percent start to its CONCACAF Champions League campaign with a 2-0 win over Deportivo Olimpia at Estadio Tiburcio Carias Andino in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

Sporting had previously beaten Real Esteli of Nicaragua by a similar scoreline, and head coach Peter Vermes will be pleased that his team has yet to give up a goal in continental play. Kansas City now sits on top of Group 2 with six points.

Soony Saad scored his first for Kansas City in the 28th minute, running past the Olimpia back line to latch onto a Graham Zusi flick and finish.

Sporting won a penalty in the second half when Dom Dwyer was tripped in the penalty area by Israel Fonseca. Noel Valladares put his hand to Saad's spot-kick effort, but it wasn't enough and the visitors went up 2-0.

In their next game, Sporting will welcome previous victim Real Esteli to Sporting Park on Sept. 17.
