Well, that's all from our LIVE coverage of the Premier League action at St James' Park. Many thanks for joining, and it's goodbye for now!
That's back-to-back 4-0 defeats for Alan Pardew's side, meanwhile, and their season appears to be going out with a bit of a whimper. They simply weren't threatening enough and were lacking quality in the final third today.
That's five away games unbeaten for Man Utd, who have gone over eight hours without conceding a Premier League goal on their travels. That win lifts them above Tottenham into sixth place in the table.
FULL TIME at St James' Park and Manchester United have cruised to a 4-0 win over Newcastle United after a ruthless display. Juan Mata set things going with a wonderful free kick before adding a second, and goals from Javier Hernandez and Adnan Januzaj rounded things off nicely.
90' + 4'
NANI!! Almost 5-0 as the winger cuts in from the right-hand side and elects to shoot from a tight angle, but his left-footed effort goes into the side netting.
90' + 3'
Assist Juan Mata
90' + 3'
Goal Adnan Januzaj
JANUZAJ MAKES IT FOUR!! It's another wonderful move from Moyes' men as Januzaj plays a neat one-two with Mata, who backheels it wonderfully back into the path of the youngster, and he slots it under Elliot and in at the near post. A superb performance from the visitors nicely rounded off.
90' + 2'
Hernandez is still working hard up front for Man Utd, and he shows some tidy footwork outside the box before finding Mata, whose lofted chip doesn't quite find Kagawa and Williamson heads clear.
90' + 1'
We've got four minutes of stoppage time at St James' Park and the visitors are firmly in control - Newcastle's minds are already on their post-match shower by the looks of it.
Real danger for the hosts as Hernandez squirms into the area before setting Kagawa away, but he can't get a shot away as he is closed down quickly by three defenders.
Smalling wins another header as he beats Cisse in the air to send Elliot's goal kick back into the Newcastle half. The visitors have the ball again and are keeping it in defence as the end of the game draws closer.
Smalling covers out on the left and forces the ball out for a throw, before winning it in the air from Santon's launched throw into the area. The defender has looked very solid on his return to the side this afternoon.
Nani and Kagawa link up beautifully on the right-hand side as the latter flicks a cheeky pass inside for the Portugal man, but his ball to the edge of the box is easily cut out by Coloccini.
Santon fires a ball in from the right-hand side but, as has so often been the case for Newcastle today, it's too hard and flies out the other side before going into touch.
Shola Ameobi is given a late cameo for Newcastle as he replaces Gouffran. There's no way back for the hosts now but he'd probably not mind getting on the scoresheet anyway.
WHAT A SAVE BY LINDEGAARD!! That should be 3-1 as Haidara crosses from the left and Smalling's flick takes it out to Cisse, who takes a touch end hammers the ball at goal from eight yards out, but Lindegaard diverts it away with a wonderful point-blank save.
Ben Arfa fires the ball out to the left and Cisse collects it well. The substitute gets it back and finds Haidara, whose cross is cleared comfortably by Jones six yards from his own goal.
This is lovely stuff from the visitors, who are pinging the ball around in midfield and giving Newcastle little chance to get hold of possession.
We're back underway with Tiote and Jones both happy to continue, before the Newcastle man shows he's OK as he clips Kagawa in midfield.
Both Jones and Tiote are down receiving treatment and several players are pausing for water and instructions from the sideline as we enter the final 10 minutes.
Nani and Mata try to link up on the edge of Newcastle's box, but the latter's flicked pass doesn't find his team-mate and the hosts hack it clear, but Man Utd are still in possession.
The visitors have the ball once more and the passes are pretty slow as they try to wind down the clock. Still hopeful for more action in the remainder of this game, though!
Good work by Gosling as he stops Kagawa in his tracks in midfield. The ball is spread wide to Ben Arfa, whose cross is half-cleared before Haidara's ball in from the left is too hard - Newcastle's delivery again letting them down.
Chance for Newcastle as Cisse gets down the right-hand side and moves into the area. He looks to square across the box and Jones gets a slight touch on it, nearly diverting out of the reach of Lindegaard, but the goalkeeper just gets hold of it with an arm at full stretch.
Ben Arfa is penalised for a foul inside the Man Utd half and the visitors can control the tempo once more. There's plenty of noise coming from the away end at the moment - not so much from the home fans.
Oh dear, Nani. That's not one he'll want to see again. The visiotrs move forward and Januzaj pulls it to the edge of the box from the left flank, but Nani's attempted first-time effort sees him produce a fine air kick and leaves him looking rather embarrassed.
The visitors have a bit of a swagger about them now, and they're passing it around with a real spring in their step. Could they add a fourth or will they see this out?
CISSE!! The striker is denied by Lindegaard again as he collects a diagonal ball in behind Valencia before curling an effort towards the far top corner, but the Man Utd goalkeeper saves well and pushes it away with a firm wrist.
Into the final 20 minutes at St James' Park, and the visitors are cruising. You get the feeling they will want to slow things down now, with Wednesday's crucial Champions League clash with Bayern Munich to come.
Tiote tries to make a further mark on the game as he twists and turns in midfield before darting to the right and unleashing a wild effort which flies high and wide, straight into the stand behind the goal.
Some Newcastle fans look to be leaving already - they've seen enough. The visitors, meanwhile, look hungry for more goals and you wouldn't bet against them doing so.
That's the striker's 42nd goal in 83 starts for the Red Devils - a very impressive record. Newcastle didn't have much to play for before kick-off, and they'll be wanting the last 25 minutes to go as quickly as possible.
Assist Shinji Kagawa
Goal Javier Hernández
HERNANDEZ ADDS A THIRD!! That's game over now and Man Utd are cruising as Januzaj plays a delightful pass through the channel for Kagawa, who spots Hernandez in the middle and pulls back from the by-line, and the Mexican slides in to slot the ball under Elliot and into the net.
Good chance for Newcastle as Haidara fires in a dangerous low ball towards the near post, but Smalling does well to watch the run of Gouffran and divert the ball behind for a goal kick.
Luuk de Jong
Hatem Ben Arfa
Hatem Ben Arfa is on for the hosts as De Jong comes on after a pretty disappointing showing. Can the substitute inspire a comeback?
HERNANDEZ!! Cisse is the latest to fire a ball into the Man Utd box, but again there's no-one there to get on the end of it. The visitors break quickly and Kagawa pulls it back towards the penalty spot before Hernandez blazes a first-time effort over the crossbar.
There are more mutterings on the phone from Alan Pardew. Surely it won't be long before we see a change for Newcastle?
The hosts have a chance to create something as it's spread to Haidara on the left-hand edge of the box, but his cross is hit way too hard and flies out the other side.
There's plenty of noise inside St James' Park as the home supporters try to gee up their side and drown out the jubilant Man Utd fans. On the pitch, we've entered a slightly scrappy phase of play, with possession regularly being switched.
The visitors have now gone over seven-and-a-half hours without conceding a Premier League goal away from Old Trafford. That's a mighty record.
Newcastle need to start creating more if they're to get back into this. Cisse has had two reasonable chances while De Jong has been incredibly quiet. It's hard to see them scoring, to be honest.
Elliot does really well to punch away Mata's second attempt at the corner, and the hosts move forward before Valencia watches Gouffran closely, forcing the ball out for a throw on Newcastle's left-hand side.
The visitors win a corner but there's a delay as the referee spots some pushing between Hernandez and Haidara in the goalmouth. Mata eventually fires it in but Tiote clears behind.
Yellow Card Cheikh Tiote
Tiote picks up what was looking like an inevitable booking this afternoon, as he clips Hernandez's heels in midfield, giving the referee no choice.
That may have just killed the game off. A wonderful piece of play from Man Utd and a superb show of quality from Mata. Is there any way back for the hosts now?
Assist Javier Hernández
Goal Juan Mata
MATA MAKES IT TWO!! It's a devastating move from the visitors as Hernandez is in behind the defence after good work by Kagawa. The striker charges into the box before squaring to Mata, who shows real coolness to take a touch to wrong-foot both Coloccini and Elliot, before sliding the ball into the empty net.
Loose touch from Tiote in midfield, who gives it straight to Fellaini before clattering into Hernandez, and the visitors take the free kick short inside the Newcastle half.
The hosts hve started brightly and are moving it around well. Gosling and Cisse work their way into the box but Evra just manages to get a touch on the ball to halt the attack.
De Jong puts a lot of pressure on Smalling, whose clearance deflects off the striker and loops high into the air. Fortunately for the Man Utd defender, though, it's an easy catch for Lindegaard on the by-line.
We're back underway as Man Utd kick off the second half, with no more changes made at the break.
Right then, not long to go until the restart in Newcastle. Who's going to come out on top after these 45 minutes?
Can the hosts get back in this? Or will Man Utd keep up their fine away record? Be sure to join us when things resume for the second half.
Newcastle nearly took the lead very early through Gosling's header, before Cisse spurned a couple of chances of his own. They'll be disappointed to be behind but it could have been a lot worse - only the woodwork stopped Hernandez doubling the visitors' tally.
That's HALF TIME at St James' Park as the free kick comes to nothing, and Manchester United take a 1-0 lead into the break thanks to Juan Mata's stunning strike.
45' + 2'
Cisse is angry as a throw goes against him, before Santon takes out Januzaj and the visitors can fire in a free kick from the left-hand side...
45' + 1'
Play resumes as Newcastle launch the ball forward once more, but it's far too hard and goes straight through to Lindegaard, who sends it back up the other end, forcing Haidara to head the ball out of play.
Williamson was hurt in the build-up to that chance so there's a brief pause in play as the defender trudges off the field for treatment, as we just enter two minutes of added time.
OFF THE POST!! So nearly 2-0!! Kagawa is free and charges through the middle before releasing Hernandez just beyond the defence. The striker tries to bend the ball around Elliot and into the far corner, but it bounces off the upright and the hosts survive.
Valencia gives the ball straight to Tiote and the midfielder looks to slide a pass through the middle for Cisse, but it just comes off the striker's heels and the danger is averted.
Fellaini finds a pocket of space in midfield and finds Mata, who spreads a lovely pass out wide to Januzaj on the left. The youngster spots Hernandez and tries a low cross into the middle, but the execution is poor and it goes behind for a goal kick.
The hosts have under five minutes to go into the break on level terms. Anita looks for De Jong with a diagonal ball into the edge of the box, but Smalling cuts it out comfortably.
It's a wonderful goal to break the deadlock, but that won't be any consolation for Newcastle, who will feel they don't deserve to be behind in this match.
Goal Juan Mata
MATA FIRES IT IN!! SUPERB GOAL!! The diminutive midfielder strolls up to the stationary ball, and swings it beautifully over the wall and into the top corner. No chance for Elliot, and the visitors lead!
Real chance for the visitors, now, as Gosling brings down Fletcher just outside the penalty area. It's towards the right-hand edge and looks to be in a good spot for the left boot of Juan Mata...
Poor stuff from Hernandez, who is part of a swift four-man attack, but his pass out to Kagawa is nowhere near accurate enough and the ball goes harmlessly out for a throw.
Risky, risky stuff from Elliot! The goalkeeper charges out of his area to stop Hernandez reaching a ball over the top, but nearly misjudges the bounce completely. He manages to get something on the ball, though, and puts it out for a throw.
Newcastle are ramping it up here and Santon does superbly to knock the ball past Evra and into space down the flank. He has three men in the box but none of them charge towards goal, and Santon's fizzed ball across the six-yard box finds no-one.
There's a real scrap for the ball down the hosts' left as Haidara and Valencia bump and barge each other to try and win possession, but it's the Man Utd man who comes out on top.
Anita puts Coloccini under a bit of unnecessary pressure as he throws to the defender with Mata bearing down on him, but he does well to play back to Elliot and hold on to possession for Newcastle.
There's another free kick as Gouffran is penalised for a strong aeiral challenge. It's all a bit scrappy in midfield at the moment, but there are some interesting physical battles going on.
Kagawa and Mata link up beautifully on the right-hand side of the box before the latter swings in a cross looking for a red shirt. It flicks off a defender but Januzaj can't quite bring it down, giving Williamson a chance to clear.
Half an hour gone, and Newcastle have had some bright moments in and around the visitors' box, but Man Utd look particularly threatening on the break. A very tough one to call, this.
Good chance for Newcastle as Cisse and Anita link up well before spreading wide to Santon. The full-back spots Cisse's late run into the area and tries to find his team-mate, but the ball is at an awkward height for the striker and he can't divert an effort towards goal.
Fellaini is involved in another physical battle, prompting another chat with the referee as he challenges De Jong in the air. No cards brandished just yet, though.
Chance for United as Mata swings in the free kick, and Smalling goes up for it at the far post but Elliot does well to fist the ball clear.
Gosling earns a talking to from the referee after bringing down Fellaini in midfield. From the replays, though, it looks like the Belgian's elbow was raised far too high and he may have got away with that.
The hosts have had the two best chances of the game, but we're still goalless. That chance has boosted the noise inside St James' Park, though, as the crowd start to get into the game.
CISSE!! What a save by Lindegaard! The initial free kick is cleared but it comes out to Anita, who lays back for Santon, and the defender whips in a wonderful cross. Cisse gets on to the end of it, flicking a rapid header towards goal and forcing an acrobatic stop from Lindegaard, who pushes it over.
Good work from Kagawa, who presses Tiote hard and forces the midfielder back into his own half, before Fellaini clatters into Anita on the halfway line. Another chance to launch it high into the area for the hosts, perhaps.
CISSE!! Elliot launches the free kick forward and De Jong beats Fellaini in the air, nodding it across goal for Cisse, who tries a spectacular bicycle kick which is on target, but doesn't have enough pace to beat Lindegaard.
Fletcher looks for Hernandez with a good ball forward, but Williamson cuts it out before being pushed over by the Man Utd striker in a not-so-subtle fashion.
We've had 20 minutes at St James' Park, but no real chances since Gosling's early header. It's all a little bit tentative so far, but you get the feeling one big chance could change the feel of this game.
Newcastle are the ones with the ball as the momentum swings slightly again, but they surrender possession as Gouffran can't get on the end of a pass out wide and it goes out for a throw, before he then fouls Valencia by the touchline.
It is, in fact, the end of Young's afternoon, then. Adnan Januzaj is thrown on by David Moyes and he will most likely slot into that right-hand midfield role.
There's a loose pass from Anita, who puts Gosling under real pressure in midfield, but the Newcastle man does well to hold off Fletcher and keep the ball for the hosts.
Haidara pushes forward against Valencia, who has no-one in front of him for now, but the defender cuts out his counterpart's cross and it goes out for a throw. The ball is launched into the box and there's some head tennis as the visitors fail to clear, but Tiote's volley flies high over the crossbar and into the stands.
Young is in trouble after that clash with Haidara, and it looks like a hand injury for the winger. He's gone straight down the tunnel, possibly for a quick couple of stitches before returning.
The visitors are starting to take charge, now, and are seeing plenty of possession inside the Newcastle half. Kagawa spreads the ball out to Evra, whose cross is deep but goes all the way out to Young, who loses out to Haidara inside the box. Important challenge, there, as he could easily have given away a penalty.
More vital defending from Williamson as he cuts out another Young cross in from the right. Fellaini brings the ball down before seeing his left-footed shot saved, but the whistle goes as the Belgian looked to have used his arm to control it.
A quick glimpse of Alan Pardew pops up as he delivers instructions to assistant John Carver via phone. The Newcastle boss is still serving his suspension for head-butting Hull's David Meyler.
Good move from the visitors as Hernandez receives the ball and draws in both defenders before playing it into space for Young on the right. Williamson recovers well to divert the winger's cross behind for a corner, and the hosts again deal with the set piece well.
Lindegaard launches the ball high into the Newcastle half, but Williamson comfortably beats Hernandez in the air and the hosts win possession. Man Utd need to get the ball to the Mexican's feet, or use his pace instead.
Haidara plays a lovely lofted ball over the top of Valencia and Gouffran chases hard in behind the winger-turned-full-back this afternoon, but the ball skips off the surface and goes behind for a goal kick.
It's been a fairly leisurely start from both sides here so far. Newcastle are passing it along the back and the visitors are content to sit back for now.
The Red Devils skipper is back on his feet but is still moving around gingerly after going in for a challenge with Anita. He's carrying on for now, and we're back underway.
Man Utd have a chance to break forward but Mata chooses to slow things down and keep hold of the ball, before Fellaini puts the ball straight out of play as he sees Evra down on the ground in pain.
Young tries to get past Haidara down the flank, but the Newcastle defender stands firm and forces it out for a corner which the hosts deal with comfortably.
Valencia floats a long ball forward and Young chases hard down the right channel, but it's just too long and Elliot is able to come out and claim. It's fired straight forward and Cisse controls well before scuffing a shot well wide.
It's a bright start from Newcastle, who are dominating the early possession. Coloccini looks for De Jong with a long flat pass forward but it's cut out, before Hernandez checks his run when chasing Fellaini's pass forward as the visitors look for a foothold in the game.
GOSLING!! Early chance for the hosts as De Jong is brought down by Evra on the right-hand side. Santon whips the ball into the box and Gosling meets it 15 yards out, powering a header just wide of the post.
Newcastle get the game started, and we're underway at St James' Park.
We're just a few minutes away from kick-off on Tyneside, then. What will these two serve up for us this afternoon? Stick with us for all the action!
Keep an eye out for Red Devils youngster James Wilson this afternoon. The 18-year-old is on the bench this afternoon amid the visitors' depleted striking options, and could end up making his senior debut today after thoroughly impressing at youth level this season.
Manchester United, meanwhile, boast the best away record in the top flight, with 30 points taken from a possible 48. They're unbeaten in their last four on the road and didn't concede a goal in any of them.
The reverse fixture in December saw the Magpies pick up their first win at Old Trafford since 1972 as Yohan Cabaye's goal earned Alan Pardew's men a 1-0 win, but their form has dropped right off recently and they've lost nine of their last 14 Premier League matches.
There's no Wayne Rooney for the visitors as the England man has a toe injury, and Robin van Persie remains sidelined so Javier Hernandez is playing a lone striker role for David Moyes' men this afternoon. Juan Mata is among eight changes from the draw with Bayern Munich, while Chris Smalling returns to the defence.
Moussa Sissoko is the latest Newcastle player to fall victim to injury after the midfielder picked up a thigh strain. Tim Krul is still out so Rob Elliott is in between the posts, while Luuk de Jong makes the starting XI alongside Papiss Cisse up front as the hosts make three changes from the 4-0 defeat to Southampton.
Man Utd subs: De Gea, Buttner, Vidic, Cleverley, Januzaj, Nani, Wilson.
Manchester United (4-5-1): Lindegaard; Valencia, Jones, Smalling, Evra; Young, Mata, Fletcher, Fellaini, Kagawa; Hernandez.
Newcastle subs: Alnwick, S Taylor, Yanga-Mbiwa, Dummett, Ben Arfa, Shola Ameobi, Armstrong.
Newcastle United (4-4-2): Elliot; Santon, Williamson, Coloccini, Haidara; Anita, Gosling, Tiote, Gouffran; De Jong, Cisse.
The teams have been announced so let's bring you the line-ups, shall we? Here are today's sides, starting with the hosts...
Good afternoon and welcome to LIVE coverage of the Premier League as Newcastle United take on Manchester United at St James' Park. The European places look to be too far away for either side here so there isn't a lot at stake, but it still promises to be a fascinating encounter.
