An early Kenny Cooper goal and another assured performance from the back line earned the Red Bulls a 1-0 win.

The New York Red Bulls rode another strong defensive performance and an early Kenny Cooper goal to their third-straight victory in a 1-0 decision over the Houston Dynamo at Red Bull Arena.

The home side scored the game's only goal seven minutes in thanks to some nightmarish play from the Dynamo back line. Corey Ashe's back pass to Tally Hall was weak, and Kenny Cooper pounced to block Hall's attempted sliding clearance into the net.

The visitors struggled to mount many opportunities on goal for much of the match, but Brad Davis will feel he should have scored twice inside the last 10 minutes.

First, he fired a shot high and wide from the top of the box after being set up perfectly by Corey Ashe. A few minutes later, he had an even better opportunity, but he somehow contrived to head wide from close range off a beautiful floated cross by Will Bruin.

Rookie goalkeeper Ryan Meara made one last big save at the death to preserve the victory for the Red Bulls, who have overcome a rash of injuries and suspensions to post three consecutive 1-0 victories.
