The Red Bulls haven't won at Gillette Stadium in a decade, and that didn't change on Sunday night thanks to Lee Nguyen and Jerry BengtsonLee Nguyen and debutant Jerry Bengtson scored for the New England Revolution on Sunday night, giving their side a 2-0 win over the visiting New York Red Bulls.
Nguyen opened the scoring 24 minutes into the match, after Chris Tierney found the midfielder at the top of the box. Nguyen hit a low right-footed screamer that found the near corner past a diving Ryan Meara.
Kenny Cooper nearly tied the game in the 56th minute when his long-range effort clanged off the post. It would end up being the closest his team would get to a goal.
Making his Revs debut, Honduran international Bengtson finished off the match in the 84th minute. Saer Sene's shot was parried by Meara, but Bengtson was on hand to pounce on the rebound to clinch the points.
With the win, the Revs extended their unbeaten streak to five matches. Meanwhile, the Red Bulls continued their Gillette Stadium frustration, having failed to win a match there since 2002, a span of 17 games (0-13-4).
