The MLS Golden Boot leader was in deadly form again Sunday night, leading his team to a crucial road victory.
Marco Di Vaio scored another two goals to help the Montreal Impact to a 4-2 road win against a 10-man New England Revolution side.
The Revs were in big trouble within the game's first five minutes, as Matt Reis hauled Di Vaio down in the box, resulting in a penalty kick and a red card, as the goalkeeper denied an obvious goalscoring opportunity. Patrice Bernier stepped up to score the ensuing penalty kick.
New England struck back, however, as Diego Fagundez scored his 10th goal of the season after a Jeb Brovsky tackle deflected the ball into his path.
Bernier would grab his second of the night just minutes later, as he buried another penalty kick following a Jose Goncalves challenge on Felipe in the box.
Just before the half, Di Vaio grabbed a killer third after taking a ball down in the box, cutting onto his right, and burying a shot low to the near post. Ten minutes after the half, Di Vaio again worked his magic in the box, curling a perfect shot into the far corner for his league-best 17th of the year.
Kelyn Rowe pulled a goal back with 15 minutes to play, but that would be all the scoring on the night, as Montreal returned to the summit of the Eastern Conference.
