Miguel Lopez scored his first goal off a service from David Beckham and the Galaxy left New England with three points.

The L.A. Galaxy took advantage of second-half chances to come away from New England with a 1-0 victory. New England put forth a decent effort but could not hold the Galaxy from scoring in the second half.

First Half

New England came out with the first opportunity of the game as midfielder Benny Feilhaber struck a beautiful cross from the right flank. Midfielder Zak Boggs was in the L.A. box, but hit the ball over the net.

Boggs was again involved in offensive play in the 10th minute as he delivered a cross in the L.A. box, but New England striker Rajko Lekic could not connect.

At 15 minutes defender A.J DeLaGarza played a back pass towards Galaxy keeper Donovan Ricketts that did not have a lot of power behind it and Lekic was quick to pounce on the opportunity, but Ricketts came out of his box to gather it up.

In the 24th minute, Chad Barrett had LA's first attempt on net with a near post blast that was pushed away by Reis. On the ensuing corner kick Omar Gonzalez put a header right off the New England crossbar that almost went over the line before being cleared.

The last chance of the slow first half went to Galaxy captain Landon Donovan as he headed a cross just wide of the net in the 42nd minute.

Second Half

New England once again had the first attempt on goal in the half, in the 53rd minute Lekic headed an in-swinging free kick on goal, Ricketts was quick to save the shot.

In the 58th minute, Galaxy midfielder Landon Donovan decided to test Matt Reis with a shot from 30 yards out, the shot just missed the frame but was promising.

The Galaxy struck first from a Miguel Lopez header in the 69th minute. Midfielder David Beckham placed a cross right across the New England goal and immediately found Lopez who netted his first career MLS goal.

Lopez continued to be active in the 76th minute as he took a low shot outside of the New England box, but Reis moved well to stop the chance.

In the 80th minute, Benny Feilhaber made a solid run across the field with the ball, but the frustrated midfielder then took a weak low shot on net and Ricketts easily made the save.

Feilhaber again was eager to even the game up on a Darrius Barnes cross, but poor communication led to Felihaber running into fellow Revolution forward Zack Schilawski in the 86th minute.

In stoppage time Rajko Lekic caused a major panic for LA as Lekic disrupted Ricketts who was off his line to grab a cross. As the ball came free Schilawski struck the ball onto a seemingly open net, but A.J De La Garza played the role of hero for LA and saved a certain goal.

The action was not done there, and as the ball was crossed back into the Galaxy box, New England midfielder Shalrie Joesph headed the ball towards the net but was blocked. Miraculously, there was yet another rebound which found Schilawski, who shot on net, but this time Donovan cleared the ball off the line and out of danger.

New England's efforts were too late as the Galaxy walked away with a 1-0 victory away from home.
