Montreal and New England finished out their seasons with an early afternoon match in Saputo Stadium.Despite missing out on the playoffs, the New England Revolution sealed a second 1-0 win in a row to end the season, topping the Montreal Impact, in Canada. Defender A.J. Soares scored the only goal, in the 88th minute.
The game featured plenty of chances, with the goalkeepers making 10 combined saves. Bobby Shuttleworth pulled off seven to keep the Revs in the match.
With the final whistle minutes away, the visiting side broke through. Chris Tierney sent a free kick into the box and Soares headed it down. The ball bounced inside the far post.
