  • 90' + 4'
That's all from me, Zac Lee Rigg. Thanks for reading along.
  • 90' + 3'
There's the whistle. Mexico advances to the Gold Cup semifinals. T&T is eliminated.
  • 90'
Three minutes of stoppage time for T&T to find an equalizer.
  • 89'
    Substitution C. Edwards Kevon Carter
  • 89'
    Substitution L. Montes E. Velarde
  • 88'
    Substitution Andre Boucaud Chris Birchall
  • 88'
Coming into the match is Chris Birchall, the former LA Galaxy midfielder. He also represented T&T at the 2006 World Cup.
  • 85'
Williams had pulled off 10 saves prior to the goal. Hard to fault him -- that shot had to be inch-perfect to elude his outstretched hands and still hit the target.
  • 84'
    Assist Miguel Arturo Layun
  • 84'
    Goal R. Jiménez
  • 84'
THERE'S THE GOAL. Mexico finally breaks through, beating Williams with barely five minutes remaining. Fabian worked the ball wide to Layun, who crossed on the ground. Jimenez scrapped a shot from an acute angle that snuck inside the far post.
  • 77'
From one box to the other. After Jimenez failed to pull the trigger at the top of the T&T box, Jones hustled to get off a shot at the opposite end. Aldrete did well to stick with him and block the attempt.
  • 75'
Substitution Rafael Márquez Lugo J. Orozco
  • 75'
New Santos Laguna striker Javier Orozco comes on for Marquez Lugo. The Chivas forward put in a workman's shift, covering a lot of ground and doing the little things that make an offense click. But right now El Tri needs a goal.
  • 70'
Pena's final stats: 10 passes completed out of 17 attempted. Three shots.
  • 69'
    Substitution C. Peña J. Cárdenas
  • 69'
Pena, aside from his two good shots, has had a poor match. He's replaced by Cardenas, the only player added after the group stages. The Morelia midfielder has about 20 minutes to make his mark.
  • 68'
Williams has made nine saves, many of them impressive. Chepo de la Torre will need to adjust something if he's going to beat the T&T goalkeeper today.
  • 64'
The attendance of 54,229 is a record soccer attendance in the Georgia Dome.
  • 63'
Yet another save from Williams. He tips a Jimenez shot from outside the box over the bar.
  • 62'
Layun cranked that free kick on target with a great arc. Williams was at full stretch to push it away.
  • 61'
    Yellow Card Keon Daniel
  • 61'
    Yellow Card L. Montes
  • 61'
Well, that didn't take long for more bookings to follow. Montes and Daniel shove each other after two rough Daniel challenges. The referee wastes no time in waving a yellow at them both.
  • 59'
    Yellow Card Radanfah Abu Bakr
  • 59'
Abu Bakr picks up a yellow. As Orozco comes to collect a high ball, the defender crashed into the goalkeeper with his foot raised. Easy decision for the ref's first yellow.
  • 55'
POST. A short corner falls back to Aldrete, who dumps the ball into the box. Jimenez scraps to carve out a few feet and knocks the ball off the post with the outside of his foot.
  • 51'
Carlos Edwards stole the ball in midfield and accelerated on the counter. He dished the ball side to Jones, who fired well high. Should have done more with the chance.
  • 48'
Another half, another great chance. Montes skipped infield and cranked a hard, low shot on target that Williams blocked but couldn't catch.
  • 46'
We're back with the second half. If tied this game will go to extra time and then penalties.
  • El Tri has taken 11 shots, three on target, and will be frustrated it hasn't broken through yet.
  • 45'
Mexico ends the half with another wasted chance. The ball fell to Montes in the box. His shot was deflected and Jimenez was offside before he could pounce.
  • 42'
That save was fare more impressive from Williams. A few one-touch passes find Marquez Lugo at the top of the box. He pulled off a tight one-timer headed for the bottom corner, but Williams got down quickly to parry.
  • 41'
Montes hit a free kick cleanly and over the wall, but Williams barely had to move to catch it.
  • 33'
T&T starting to hold onto the ball, playing it out of the back and through midfield with one-touch triangles. The longer this remains scoreless the more frustrated Mexico will become.
  • 30'
Cyrus is only 22 but he's having an impressive game. His latest contribution was to come back to nick the ball away from Fabian in the box. If he got that wrong, it would have been a penalty.
  • 25'
Mexico keeps coming close. This time Jimenez guided a Aldrete cross just wide of the post. One of these will pay off eventually.
  • 23'
The commentators on Fox thought that wa a goal. Marco Fabian scooped the ball forward. Marquez Lugo chested it down and Pena blasted it into the side netting. Williams looked like he had it covered, but that was close.
  • 22'
Trinidad's current pass accuracy is 36 percent. That's abysmal, but the main ploy is long balls up to the head of Jones to flick on for the speedy Cornell Glen. Won't work most times, but when it comes off it should cause Mexico plenty of trouble.
  • 20'
Well now. Jones, with his back to goal, controlled a Cyrus long ball with his thigh. With the ball in the air, he tried to pull of a bicycle, but an acrobatic Huiqui karate kick cleared the danger.
  • 19'
T&T's best chances are coming from set pieces. Kenwyne Jones is always a danger in the air. The latest one flew an inch or two above his head and safely to Orozco.
  • 17'
Fabian is playing down the left. He zipped past his marker to the endline and pulled the ball back into the box dangerously. Power ushered it out for a corner.
  • 11'
This game is full of chances in the early going. Layun's overlap creates another opening. He crosses to Marquez Lugo, whose close range shot does some damage to Williams. The goalkeeper required treatment but looks alright.
  • 10'
From the corner, Power headed about a foot wide. Two great chances.
  • 9'
Oh my. Another long throw from Cyrus, this time from the other side, causes havoc again. The ball pops out to Boucoud who blasts it on target. Orozco pulled off a stunning diving save with the ball coming through traffic.
  • 6'
T&T's first chance came via a long throw from Cyrus. Aldrete threw himself in front of the shot to block it.
  • 5'
Marco Fabian steps over the ball several times at the top of the box. His shot is firm, but straight at the goalkeeper.
  • 3'
OFFSIDE GOAL. Montes drilled a low free kick into the box. Jimenez back-heeled the ball to keep it alive, and Pena finished from offside. Tidy finish too, blasted into the ceiling of the net.
  • 1'
Already a good chance as Marquez Lugo plays a cross deep into the box. Powers scrambles it away.
  • 1'
And we're off. Trinidad & Tobago in white kicks off against Mexico in green.
  • T&T lineup: Williams; Cyrus, Abu Bakr, Power, David; Roberts, Daniel, Boucoud, Edwards; Jones, Glen.
  • Mexico is the two-time Gold Cup champion, but no team has ever won the Gold Cup after losing a group stage match. El Tri lost its opening game to Panama.
  • T&T last beat Mexico in 2005, in a Hexagonal match after El Tri had already qualified for the World Cup.
  • El Tri is 11-3-3 against T&T, including two wins in the Gold Cup group stages. They've never met in the knockout rounds.
  • This match takes place in Atlanta's Georgia Dome.
  • Mexico named an unchanged lineup. Enriquez stays on the bench. Orozco; Layun, Valenzuela, Huiqui, Aldrete; Montes, Castro, Pena, Fabian; Marquez Lugo, Jimenez.
  • Hello there. I'm Zac Lee Rigg and I'll be chatting you through this Gold Cup quarterfinal between Mexico and Trinidad & Tobago.
