  • It wasn't easy.. but Mexico got the win. A much needed win, and El Tri still has a chance at the World Cup. It may have to come through the playoffs, but hope is still very much alive and Mexico has its destiny in its own hands.
  • 90' + 5'
There it is!! It's over, and Mexico has won this massive showdown!!
  • 90' + 4'
Time almost up, surely Mexico has earned this win.
  • 90' + 1'
Mexico hanging on, Chicharito with some great work to kill off a little bit of clock. Four minutes added on.
  • 90'
I dare say, if Mexico can hold on and indeed find a way to the World Cup, that goal will go down as one of the best and biggest in Mexican soccer history.
  • 89'
That is top plays for the next year. What a goal from Gimenez, to pop it up to himself and then bike it home... And Mexico is back in front.
  • 86'
WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW!!!!!! It's Giminez!!! What a goal, and what a time for it. The Bike, flicked it up to himself!!.
  • 85'
    Assist H. Ayala
  • 85'
    Goal R. Jiménez
  • 82'
    SubstitutionJ. Zavala R. Jiménez
  • 82'
That changes things greatly. Mexico, playing so well and up a goal, has once again had a late collapse.
  • 81'
    Assist Gabriel Torres
  • 81'
    Goal L. Tejada
  • 81'
And there's the mistake!!!! It's 1-1. Tajada!!! Oh my goodness.
  • 79'
    SubstitutionB. Pérez Gabriel Torres
  • 79'
Nothing comes of it, and I'm sure Mexico would like to get that second goal and really kill this game. As it stands El Tri is just one mistake away from a draw, and a draw won't do at this point.
  • 78'
A good place for a set piece from Mexico. Arce to deliver it.
  • 75'
    SubstitutionM. Sánchez J. Jiménez
  • 74'
    Yellow Card J. Zavala
  • 74'
Mexico deserves some credit for this showing so far. A lot of pressure, and the players have responded well, full commitment and you can see it still. Tackling hard in the middle of the pitch, trying not to let Panama have any space to build an attack. El Tri has just over 15 minutes more to kill off.
  • 72'
Perez tries to turn and rip one into the stands. No go for him tonight, he just hasn't had much service to work with.
  • 70'
    SubstitutionGiovani dos Santos F. Arce
  • 70'
Gimenez had a chance there, took it on first time and blasted it over the top.
  • 68'
    SubstitutionG. Gómez L. Tejada
  • 66'
Pena decides to have a go from the top of the box. Good run forward from Giminez to set him up, and Mexico sure could use another goal to put this one a little more out of touch.
  • 65'
    SubstitutionJ. Aquino Christian Giménez
  • 63'
Aquino is limping around now, looks like he might have a problem with his groin.
  • 61'
The ball in isn't good enough and Mexico gets it cleared.
  • 61'
Panama gets a free kick and will back it up with a corner.
  • 60'
    Yellow Card O. Peralta
  • 58'
    Missed Penalty Javier Hernández
  • 58'
    Penalty save J. Penedo
  • 58'
Chicharito has it saved!!! Wow... that's a huge boost for Panama.
  • 56'
PENALTY!! Cummings brings down Aquino in the box, and Mexico will have a chance from the spot.
  • 54'
Corner coming for Panama. Ball in is a good one but Perez can't turn it on frame at all.
  • 53'
Foul called on Mexico to kill off an attack. Panama gives it away out of the back almost immediately, but wins it back quickly.
  • 49'
Panama came out and tried an early push, with Perez at the heart of it, but Mexico never looked really troubled by it.
  • 46'
We're back for the second frame here. Mexico holding a 1-0 lead and in need of holding onto it or possibly adding more. Both sides in huge need of a win here to keep their World Cup dreams going.
  • 45' + 2'
Two minutes added on to the first half.
  • 44'
Peralta just pushed off the ball as he broke into the box. Mexico attacking very well tonight though. Panama is looking somewhat dangerous on the break, but Mexico has been largely in control.
  • 41'
Peralta with the hit for Mexico, and that's the goal the fans at Azteca have been waiting for. Chicharito got the assist there, and Mexico needed that badly, and probably deserved it on the balance of this first half.
  • 40'
    Assist Javier Hernández
  • 40'
    Goal O. Peralta
  • 39'
GOAL!!! Mexico has the lead. It's 1-0 in the 40th.
  • 35'
Another long attacking spell for Mexico ends with a goalkick for Panama. Panama would probably be happy with the way this is going and Perex pulls one back for Godoy on the other end, a real threat on the counter right now and Panama has a corner.
  • 31'
Aquino just wasted a great chance. Had a hit from the edge of the six, top corner of it really, and sliced it badly away from the frame of the goal.
  • 30'
Half an hour gone and it's still 0-0. Mexico has had the better of play, but still searching for what would be a very big goal.
  • 27'
Perez down on the pitch now for Panama. Hernandez went in hard there to challenge for a ball, cleanly I might add, but these stoppages are breaking up play regularly, and with the way Mexico is attacking that might not be a good thing.
  • 25'
The physical nature of this game continues, going both ways. Nobody backing out of anything and even some extras coming in.
  • 22'
Chicharito caught offside, but even worse he just completely missed his shot, swing and a miss.
  • 20'
Dos Santos has another rip at goal, this time on his left foot, and once again he sends it high and hard.
  • 19'
Mexico struggling to get it cleared out of the back and now Panama has a throw deep in its attacking third. Once again Mexico deals with it well and tries to hit out on the break, but Cummings gets it slowed down and gives his team a chance to retreat behind the ball.
  • 17'
    Yellow Card H. Cummings
  • 16'
No break in the action in the first quarter of an hour. Both teams playing this one at full speed, no pulling out of tackles at all. First yellow just got passed out to Cummings from Panama.
  • 12'
Panama with a set piece from about 40 out, floated into the box but Mexico gets it pretty well dealt with.
  • 11'
GIO!!! Nope.. he's sent it high. On his right foot, falling back, just couldn't keep the shot down.
  • 11'
Quintero tries an audacious chip over Ochoa.. he leaves it just high though.
  • 7'
First chance of the night falls to Chicharito, who just can't get it turned home. Mexico looks sharp, playing with purpose.
  • 6'
Pena with a shot! No slow build to this game. 90mph from the outset. Tackles coming in hard left and right, and Mexico really out to attack.
  • 3'
This is going to be a rough game. It's started early. Godoy just blasted Ayala and got no card for it. Ref probably should have shown something there just to get control. Perralta has a go from 35 after the re-start, but nothing from it.
  • 1'
    And we're off.
  • Perez leading the line for Panama tonight. Penedo in Goal. For Mexico, Rafa is the captain, with Chicharito up top leading the group.
  • Both teams are out on the pitch with the national anthems being played. Not long now. Must be nervous moments for both teams, with their World Cups hanging on the line.
  • 2013 has been a disaster for Mexico, but the main goal is always the World Cup and that is still on the table. Vucetich in his first game has a tough task. Bringing back Rafa Marquez to have some veteran leadership was a major step, but the play on the field will be what tells the entire story.
  • For Panama, a closing game against the USA looms on Tuesday, and closing the Hex with the two teams that are generally the best in the region is a tough task. But the USA has already booked its ticket, and Mexico has struggled greatly, so the chance is there for a trip to Brazil, but a result at Azteca will be crucial.
  • Just over a year ago the talk surrounding Mexico was whether or not the team had a chance to win the World Cup. Now, El Tri fans just want their team in Brazil next year. A win over Panama is really a must to get that ticket to the game's biggest event, but the team is level on points with the Panama team it faces Friday night.
