Luis Tena's side looks to maintain its unbeaten record in the competition without conceding a goal so far but will have work cut out against current top-scorer Moussa Konate.

Mexico may stick with the same team that beat Switzerland 1-0 in its last group game as manager Luis Tena has no injury worries going into the game. However, midfielder Hector Herrera and defender Miguel Ponce could push for a place in the starting XI.

Likewise, Senegal has no new injury worries following its draw against the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday. Everton striker Magaye Gueye is expected to start for boss Abdoukarime Diouf for the second consecutive game and West Ham midfielder Mohamad Diame is set to continue in to play in the heart of midfield.

  • Mexico is yet to concede a goal at the tournament, a streak that has spanned three matches and 270 minutes. El Tri, along with Japan, are the only team to have this record.

  • Tottenham’s Giovani Dos Santos has netted two goals for the Mexicans in the competition so far and both came in the 2-0 win over Gabon.

  • Mexico’s best placement in the Olympics was when it finished fourth in the 1968 games.

  • The two sides have met only once, with Mexico winning the encounter 1-0 in a friendly game in May 2010.

  • Senegal has never reached the quarterfinals of the Olympic Games before.

  • Moussa Konate (pictured right) is the top-scorer in the tournament so far with four goals in his three games.

  • Only 'keeper Ousmane Mane from Senegal squad plies his trade in his home country; the rest play in teams from 10 different nations across Europe.

  • The winner of this game will play either Japan or Egypt in the last four of the competition at Old Trafford next Tuesday.
