Live Commentary

  • Thanks for looking in as we covered the Liverpool - Roma match. We'll have full coverage after the fact as well, but switch over and check out the live commentary of Chelsea's match against the MLS All-Star team, which should also be full of attacking intent.
  • 90' + 3'
Can't be much time left.. and indeed there's the final whistle. Good game all around. Michael Bradley with a goal and a great showing in a 2-1 win for Roma.
  • 90' + 2'
Lamela has looked very sharp. Very nice display from him. Not so much from Liverpool but also not the strongest group the club has to offer.
  • 90'
Three minutes tacked on to the end of this one.
  • 89'
Not much time left now for Liverpool to get another goal. Been a very good match really, for a preseason showing, and it's picked up in the final half hour here.
  • 86'
How did that stay out? Lamela with a brilliant little take and a hit that comes back off the post. Bad luck there, that should have been 3-1.
  • 85'
Lamela with a hit on his left foot, leaves it well high of the mark but a good place to shoot from after taking his time to see if other things would open up.
  • 83'
Just one goal in it now for the closing run. Should lead to some excitement.
  • 80'
    Goal Charlie Adam
  • 80'
It's 2-1, and Charlie Adam with a great hit on his left foot. Really high quality hit after a layoff from Pacheco.
  • 78'
Liverpool called for a foul on Lucas, that seemed harsh. The team was in a good attacking position.
  • 75'
Bradley with a strong tackle. I think he's trying to make a point and claim his starting spot tonight. Could be hard to get into the Roma midfield, but he's certainly made a case for himself with this outing.
  • 73'
Roma in complete control at this point.
  • 69'
    Goal Alessandro Florenzi
  • 69'
AND IT'S 2-0 Roma.. this time it's Florenzi after a really slick move.
  • 69'
The game got the goal it needed. No shock really that it was Roma. If you were judging just by name value, the Italians have the much more recognizable side on the pitch.
  • 66'
LIVERPOOL! That was close. Pacheco gets past his mark and floats in his cross but the header goes just over the bar after a good block.
  • 64'
Bradley has had a good night all around, and the goal just kind of puts and exclamation on it.
  • 62'
    Goal Michael Bradley
GOAL ROMA!!! And guess who it is... Michael Bradley finds a bit of space and hits his shot low into the far corner. What a way to cap off his night.
  • 62'
Offside flag catches Morgan, who was in alone if he was on.
  • 60'
More changes for Liverpool, and now the entire team has been rotated I believe. Lucas is on the pitch, Adorhan and Wilson as well.
  • 59'
Liverpool with a nice chance of its own. Shelvey gets on the end of Flanagan's cross but can't keep the header down. It's easy to see that this is the preseason. Both of those should be goals in a regular season match.
  • 57'
Chance of the night has gone begging. Rose is played in by a wonderful ball from Bradley, who started the play working out of the back, and he just shanked the shot high and hard. Roma should really be at least a goal to the good by now.
  • 54'
A bit of a disjointed opening to the second half. That's to be expected I guess with the amount of changes that came in. Adam wins a free kick for Liverpool now in a decent place, so maybe something can come out of that.
  • 51'
There were plenty of changes at the half. Here's a few names that are now on the pitch. Roma has Bojanon up top with Lamela and Heinze both coming on as well, and Liverpool has put Agger, Adam and Pacheco on the pitch for this second half.
  • 49'
Tachtsidis with a hit and that one was a real chance. Forced Jones into a save and once again it came form a poor pass out of the back from Liverpool
  • 47'
Bradley tries to have a go from range, once again Roma looking to get shots off, but it's blocked away.
  • 46'
    Second half is under way.
  • And we'll go to the break level. We'll be back shortly to take you through the second half.
  • 45'
Roma has been content to have goes from range when there were chances to do other, maybe more productive, things with the ball.
  • 44'
It seems like it's Liverpool back on top of the match now. Cole with a blast that has to be saved. Good first half so far. No goals but plenty of attacking intent from both sides.
  • 41'
Really good work from Liverpool. Shelvey showing some more nice work on the ball. He's been impressive so far. This time he cuts past a couple of defenders and gets off another shot that has to be dealt with. Roma survives and gets the danger clear.
  • 38'
Cole spins twice and is blocked out, calling for a penalty but the ref is having none of it.
  • 35'
Again Pjanic nearly picks out Bradley in the box but Liverpool gets it cut out. Roma comes right back and an audacious attempt from Osvaldo misses the mark. Roma has shown some great movement off the ball and some nice attacking play, but it's been Liverpool that has come the closest to opening the scoring with Cole's chip.
  • 33'
JOE COLE!! NO! He hit the bar. Went for the chip after being found in behind with the goalkeeper off his line and it came off the top of the bar. Unlucky really.
  • 32'
Good move for Roma, cross comes in and is cut out just before reaching Bradley in the middle of the box.
  • 28'
First yellow of the match, and it will give Totti another look at this free kick. Sterling came charging in early, was booked, and then Totti's second hit misses the mark.
  • 27'
Another bad bit of play out of the back from Liverpool, and Roma will have a free kick in a very dangerous spot. Looks like Totti will have the strike.
  • 26'
Corner for Roma. Pjanic looks dangerous when he gets touches, but Shelvey has done a nice job of tracking back to help out.
  • 25'
Osvaldo again, with a pull back from Lopez, puts his shot over the bar. Both teams creating some chances but nothing clear cut just yet.
  • 22'
Liverpool wins a corner but the deflection looked dangerous before going behind.
  • 21'
Good run from Shelvey, , twice really. The first time he worked space for himself and got a shot off, forcing a save, and the second time setting the table Sterling to have a go into the side netting. Good bit of play from the Reds, and this match is really picking up.
  • 20'
Decent idea from Bradley to play the diagonal ball to Rosi, ball seemed to skip away a bit.
  • 17'
Stearling now with a shot, and it's going end to end at the moment. Roma takes it right back the other way, Osvaldo skins a defender and earns a corner after the shot is blocked out of play.
  • 16'
Bradley cuts a ball back for Totti, but Spearing is there to clock the shot and clear the danger. Roma has really come on and taken control of play over the last few minutes.
  • 13'
Taddei with a chance at the back post after another move forward from the Italian side, but Cole tracked back well to cut it out. Both teams looking to build the attack patiently when they have the ball, so the pace is not real high right now, but some good play from both sides.
  • 12'
Bradley again trying to get forward, but his pass is cut out. Not having a big influence on the match to this point.
  • 10'
Cole can't track down a long ball from Shelvey, but Liverpool has looked promising on the counter a few times.
  • 8'
Bradley with his first touch of the game, and Roma is starting to get more of this opening spell. There's a real chance.. a sloppy giveaway from Liverpool and Roma is in on goal but the shot is blocked away.
  • 4'
Roma with a nice move forward. Lopez nearly got on the end of it but Liverpool got the danger clear. First move forward for Roma.
  • 2'
Joe Cole draws an early foul. Liverpool with some good touches in the opening minutes, now worked all the way back to the 'keeper and then pushed forward quickly.
  • 1'
Off we go, Roma in the white kit, Liverpool in the traditional home red.
  • Bradley is in the starting group tonight, and the opening kick is just moments away.
  • Fenway just looks odd with a football pitch in the middle of it. Will probably make for a cool atmosphere, but something about it just doesn't look right.
  • Welcome in to our live commentary of Liverpool vs. Roma, which is being held in Boston's Fenway Park. Should be a good match tonight with plenty of fire power on display on both sides. Obviously for the USA audience this is a great chance to see Michael Bradley in his new Roma kit, so we'll be keeping and eye on that for you as well.
