Well that brings an end to our play-by-play coverage for today folks, thank you for joining me and stick around on site for all the best of the post-match reaction.
It took a fantastic piece of individual brilliance from Luis Suarez for Liverpool to preserve their 18-year unbeaten streak at Anfield over Newcastle. On the balance of play, a draw seems about a fair result today.
Nothing comes of the corner, though and the game is brought to an end with both sides sharing the spoils today in what was a somewhat lacklustre display from all concerned. It's ended 1-1 at Anfield with Luis Suarez and Yohan Cabaye grabbing the goals.
90' + 4'
Yellow Card Davide Santon
CHANCE! Suarez's free-kick is deflected off Cisse and it's bouncing awkwardly in the box, but Krul can't come and claim it with Skrtel in front of him and it hits the top of the crossbar before going behind for a corner.
Suarez flicks the ball through to Sterling who wins a free-kick after having his shirt pulled by Santon. This could be Liverpool's last chance of the game.
Why hasn't Downing headed that there? Shelvey angles a great ball across the pitch but the winger simply lets it go over his head and out of play. He didn't even try to jump for it.
Four minutes of time has been added on as Newcastle work the ball in the corner through Cisse.
CHANCE! Shelvey has to do better there after Downing sends in a great ball from the left, but the midfielder's header is tame and right at Krul. Either side of the goalkeeper and that's a goal.
Gerrard is like a man possessed at the moment chasing everything down and Newcastle are doing their best backs to the wall impression.
Gerrard wins a free-kick on the right after a poor Santon challenge and from it, Shelvey is unmarked at the back post but his half-volleyed effort is weak and straight at Krul.
Cisse picks up Gutierrez's pass and heads for the corner before Jose Enrique wins it back. Four minutes left of normal time for Newcastle to hold on.
Gerrard pings a superb 50-yard ball out wide for Sterling to latch onto but his cross in is cleared by Taylor.
Red Card Fabricio Coloccini
RED CARD! Coloccini has received his marching orders for a quite simply disgusting challenge on Suarez on the touchline. The ball is long gone but the defender still slides his studs down the Uruguayan's calf.
Ameobi finds space outside the box and has a crack which Jones pushes away before collecting after saving low to his left.
CHANCE! Jose Enrique gets the better of Simpson and floats in a lovely cross which Suarez just fails to get his head to.
With just under ten minutes to go you sense that there's a winner in this one yet but it really could go either way.
CHANCE! Blistering pace from Sammy Ameobi sees him feed in Ben Arfa down the right and as he jinks past Gerrard inside the box, he fires his shot straight at Jones who holds onto it.
Downing wins a corner after seeing his cross blocked by Simpson but the ball in isn't good enough and Cisse heads clear for what seems the 100th time today.
Defensive mix-up between Wisdom and Agger allows Cisse to have a crack on goal as he tries to hit a volley on the spin. He had a lot more time there than he thought as it goes wide.
Newcastle defend the set-piece well, though, as they have done all game and clear.
CHANCE! That's a great last-ditch block from Taylor to deny Sterling after Liverpool break away at pace through Suarez, with the winger's shot deflected out for a corner.
Cisse almost latches on to a fantastic long pass from Gutierrez but Agger gets across to cut the ball out and clear.
Newcastle hack the ball clear, though and both sides are sensing a winner here as Stewart Downing is brought on to try and help his team find the winner.
After a series of balls into the box from Liverpool, Sterling sees his vicious strike deflected behind for a corner.
Sahin brings down Ben Arfa 30 yards from goal in a central position but the Frenchman's free-kick lacks power and goes wide.
Ben Arfa wriggles away from Wisdom on the left before sending in a great ball which Agger heads clear. Atmosphere has cranked up a few notches now.
CHANCE! They should be ahead now as Suarez beats Coloccini on the outside driving into the box on the right before laying it off to Shelvey with the goal gaping, but he can only toe-poke it straight at Krul. What a miss.
Plenty of zip about the game now and the crowd are roaring Liverpool on sensing blood.
GOALLL!!!! That is absolutely magnificent from Luis Suarez as he bags the equaliser latching on to Jose Enrique's long hopeful ball forward, beating Coloccini for pace, before bringing it down on his chest and rounding Krul and slotting home. World-class.
Assist José Enrique
Goal Luis Suárez
Jonjo Shelvey has been brought on to try and add some more urgency to their play.

Very clumsy by Simpson as he bundles over Sterling on the left flank but Gerrard's free-kick in fails to beat the first man.

Sammy Ameobi goes down in the box under pressure from Skrtel but the penalty appeal is waved away as Gerrard has a pop from range which is well blocked by Cabaye up the other end of the pitch.
Liverpool have enjoyed 79% possession since the start of the second half but they've not really created anything clear-cut as of yet.
CHANCE! Sahin goes close with a deflected effort from inside the box after linking up well with Suarez but it goes just wide of Krul's bottom right corner.
The hosts still looking short of ideas going forward, though as Gerrard spreads the play between flanks with ease.
CHANCE! Suarez brings a smart stop out of Krul with a testing low shot from just outside the box, but the goalkeeper tips it around the post for a corner.
Jose Enrique has plenty of room on the left but Cisse gets across well to close down the space and Liverpool go backwards again keeping hold of the ball.
Good move by the hosts as Suarez gets away from Anita but it breaks down again as soon as it reaches the box. Familiar pattern setting in it seems.
Great ball in from Gerrard, but Krul fists it away with Agger lurking and after Sterling knocks another ball in from the left, the ref hands Newcastle a free-kick for a foul on the goalkeeper.
Taylor gets the better of Wisdom in the air on the edge of the box from Cabaye's free-kick, but Anita blazes his strike well over the bar following it up.
Sterling goes in late on Cisse and the striker looks in pain. It was a bit of a lunge and he's a very lucky boy that it's just a yellow card there.
Gerrard floats in a dangerous free-kick from the left and Agger is unmarked near the back post but it's just too high for him to make contact and Newcastle survive. Slack marking there from the visitors.
Look as if Demba Ba's afternoon is over as he hobbles off and Sammy Ameobi comes on in his place.

Liverpool have kicked us off for the second half.
The hosts lack movement all over the pitch and Newcastle have been comfortable since getting through a tricky opening period. Pardew will be happy, Rodgers far less so based on that display.
Seeing that goal back it's a great finish from Cabaye and while Jones may have seen it late, he could perhaps have done a bit better with that in trying to keep it out.
That was pretty abject at the end of that half from Liverpool and they simply look incapable of sustaining any sort of tempo for a prolonged period.
The half is brought to a close and the break couldn't come soon enough from an increasingly flat and sloppy Liverpool side. Newcastle have the lead and they've barely been at the races themselves. Plenty for Brendan Rodgers to ponder at half-time.
Man alive that's rubbish from Liverpool as a mix-up between Gerrard and Allen in the box allows Taylor to curl an effort just wide after a Cabaye free-kick.
That rather sums up how inept Liverpool have been going forward as another speculative effort from distance by Gerrard goes wide of the post.
Very sloppy from Gerrard as he gifts possession to Cabaye who has a crack from 40 yards which flies high and wide.
Assist Hatem Ben Arfa
Goal Yohan Cabaye
GOALL!!!!! It's a fantastic finish from Yohan Cabaye after Ben Arfa takes on and beats both Jose Enrique and Sterling with a jinking run down the right. The Frenchman collects the cross and curls it into the top right-hand corner.
Neat from Liverpool but it's all very comfortable for Newcastle at the moment as Wisdom is penalised for a foul throw.
Better from Liverpool as Suso runs at Santon, beating him before seeing his shot deflected behind for a corner and from the resulting ball in, as Cisse heads it out of the box, the Spaniard has a crack on his right foot this time with a dipping volley which goes over.
Suarez beats Simpson down the left but his cross is over-hit and flies out of play. Terrible delivery.

Good spell of possession for the visitors but still no real cutting edge and Jose Enrique robs Ben Arfa of it down the left as the move breaks down.
Both sides showing a distinct lack of creativity in the final third at the moment. The tempo is almost at a crawl.
Suarez beats three men through the middle before breaking into the box and trying to cut the ball back across goal, but Sterling and Suso are nowehere near it and Newcastle clear. They just stood and watched him there.

Ba is nearly in on goal after Skrtel gets caught under the ball after Coloccini wins it with a powerful header further down the pitch, but Jones comes out to collect just in time.
After Gerrard wins a corner on the right, he takes it short but Gutierrez wins the ball and Ben Arfa then draws a foul from Suso as they break away. Needless, that.

Perch has tried to come back on but he can't shake off his knock and Danny Simpson will take his place, with Anita moving into central midfield.
Sahin robs Gutierrez from behind but a free-kick is given. Signs that the hosts are growing just a little frustrated now.
Break in play now as Perch receives treatment on what looks like a knee knock.
Suarez beats Santon down the left and breaks into the box but as Taylor comes out to meet him, Allen takes control of the ball but can't get enough on his shot and it goes wide.
CHANCE! Sahin just manages to toe-poke Suarez in on goal down the right and Liverpool are through in a 2 vs 2 situation. The Uruguayan elects to go it alone, though, jinking outside Taylor before hitting it low across goal but Krul saves well with his feet.
Ben Arfa is the latest man to have a crack from distance but his effort flies well wide past the post.
Suarez is the man who steps up to take it and it's a beauty, which curls around the wall but not quite enough as it grazes the outside of the post. Close but no cigar.
That's harsh on Perch there who gets back on Suarez and slides in but it's given as a foul. Liverpool have a free-kick right on the edge of the area to the right now.

Finally the visitors display some crisp passing of their own but Liverpool working extremely hard off the ball to close them down.
Another misplaced pass from Joe Allen this time hands Newcastle the ball back in midfield, but they just hand it straight back to Liverpool. Sterling has a pop from 30 yards out which fizzes just wide.
That's a poor ball from Suarez as he looks to play in Sterling to his left and the move breaks down, but Liverpool just keep coming back at them.
From the resulting corner Krul palms away a vicious Gerrard delivery and Newcastle survive. Liverpool absolutely bossing this at the moment.
Sterling already causing Anita plenty of problems down that left flank as Liverpool work the ball out wide to Suso, who runs at Santon before hitting one with his left foot that is deflected behind for a corner.
Lovely move just fails to come off for the hosts with Sahin dinking it inside, but the ball just misses Suarez's run. Total dominance at the moment from Liverpool. Wisdom then knocks a cross miles over when well placed down the right.
Suarez beats Taylor for pace in the middle of the park and plays it out to Sterling, but his cross is headed away by Coloccini. Weak penalty shout moments later with Suarez going down under a challenge from the Argentine defender.
Gerrard sees another speculative effort from distance well blocked. Great early pressure from Liverpool here and Newcastle are penned in and can't get out.

Anfield looks up for this one today and it's already in fine voice singing You'll Never Walk Alone. Liverpool knocking the ball around nicely at the moment.
Newcastle get things underway.
Today could be the tale of two strikers, with Luis Suarez and Demba Ba both in fine form in front of goal. The Uruguayan will be supported by Suso and Raheem Sterling while Hatem Ben Arfa and Papiss Cisse will also look to be in the thick of the action. The players are in the tunnel now and we're just moments away from kick-off.
