Robbie Keane's goal just after the break was enough for the Galaxy to take three points off the Vancouver Whitecaps.Robbie Keane was once again on target for the Los Angeles Galaxy as the club claimed a 1-0 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps.
Keane put the Galaxy in front just two minutes into the second half. The LA striker's run into the middle of the box was picked out spectacularly by Stefan Ishizaki, who curled a wonderful ball in behind the Vancouver defense and onto the foot of the waiting Keane.
In the 77th minute Kenny Miller had arguably the best chance to pull his team level, flashing a header on target from a tight angle, but the save was comfortably made.
The Galaxy nearly made it 2-0 in the 82nd. Rob Friend was played in behind the Vancouver defense by a clever flick from Keane, but he pushed his chipped shot wide of the far post.
Landon Donovan, who will become MLS' all-time leading scorer with his next goal, had one clear chance with his head late in the first half but sent his effort wide of the post.
The win is the second of the young season for the Galaxy, who have now collected seven points from their first four games.
