Vancouver's miserable record against Los Angeles continued, with the Whitecaps yet to score or earn a point off the Galaxy in MLS action.Make that three straight since the international break. The LA Galaxy pummeled the visiting Vancouver Whitecaps, scoring all three goals of a 3-0 win in the first half to climb steadily up the Western Conference table.
The reigning MLS Cup champion emerged from a brief international break bottom of the West. However, three wins in a row mean the Galaxy have picked up nine points in seven days.
Mike Magee started the scoring. A corner bounced around in the box, eventually taking a deflection and looping toward goal. Joe Cannon pawed the ball away, but Magee stuck home the rebound.
Robbie Keane marked his return from Euro 2012, where his Republic of Ireland crashed out at the group stages without a point, with a well taken goal on the half hour mark. He revealed a t-shirt paying tribute to James Nolan, an Irish fan who died during Euro 2012.
Landon Donovan followed up on his brace midweek against Real Salt Lake by capping the scoring against the 'Caps. Keane won the PK when his shot bounced off Jay DeMerit's arm, and Donovan slid the ball past former teammate Cannon.
Vancouver, which put only one shot on target, has yet to score the Galaxy in MLS play.
