Two years ago the now NASL Puerto Rico beat the Galaxy 4-1 in the Home Depot Center. The traffic went the other way in this group stage encounter.
It started early, with Tommy Meyer powering a header home from a corner in the seventh minute. A minute into the second half, Jose Villarreal danced his way around the goalkeeper on a breakaway and, at full stretch, pushed in the second of the night.
Villarreal took a blow to the back of the head on the play and made way shortly after.
Within the last 10 minutes, Jack McBean and Michael Stephens scored to run up the score. Edson Buddle returned from three months of injury as a substitute.
