LA Galaxy 5-1 New England Revolution: Revs thrashed in sixth straight loss

The Galaxy stuck five past the Revs in a game that saw each side have a player ejected.

The LA Galaxy surged to third place in the Western Conference with a 5-1 thrashing of the New England Revolution on Wednesday.

Robbie Keane started off the scoring in the 10th minute in sensational style, driving a long-distance shot across the goal and inside the far post.

Keane was involved in LA's second eight minutes later, touching Stefan Ishizaki's cross to Gyasi Zardes. The youngster finished at the near post past Bobby Shuttleworth to score his fourth goal in five games.

The visitors went a man down in the 29th mnute when A.J. Soares was sent off for a foul on the Galaxy's Juninho.

Soares was followed not long after by LA defender Dan Gargan, who was shown a red card for a professional foul, conceding a penalty. New England midfielder Lee Nguyen scored from the spot to pull the score back to 2-1.

Zardes picked up his second of the night in the 48th minute to give LA a cushion, finishing Robbie Keane's low cross fom the left.

Ishizaki made it 4-1 with a deflected free kick in the 75th minute, which popped off the defensive wall and fooled Revs keeper Bobby Shuttleworth.

Keane completed the rout in the 78th minute, catching New England too far upfield and rounding Shuttleworth to cap off a counterattack.

The Galaxy (7-3-6) are now at eight games without a loss. New England (7-9-2) has lost six matches in a row.
