The Galaxy claimed a hectic and messy CONCACAF Champions League clash in the Home Depot Center on Thursday.
The Salvadorian side took the lead in the 17th minute through Nicolás Muñoz. Then Beckham took over, creating two goals in two minutes. Pinpoint crosses led to Galaxy goals through Jose Alvarado (own goal) and Robbie Keane.
Beckham then scored straight from a corner kick, an olimpico, for the 1000th goal in CONCACAF Champions League history.
There was still plenty of drama left, however. Robbie Keane was booked for diving in the 70th minute and then ejected for dissent in a rather bizarre decision by referee Juan Soto.
In the final 10 minutes of the match, there were three goals, with the undermanned Galaxy grabbing two of them. Muñoz's second was sandwiched by Juninho strikes.
A hamstring injury kept Landon Donovan out of the match. Bruce Arena hopes to have the American international back for Sunday's MLS matchup with FC Dallas. Next up in the CCL for Los Angeles is the Puerto Rico Islanders on Aug. 29.
