  • So, would starting Torres have made any difference? Will Di Matteo bring him straight back in? And with Chelsea, the holders of the Champions League, on the verge of being knocked out at the group stages, can the manager turn it around? Make sure to stick around for all the reaction on the rest of the site. But from me, thank you and good night.
  • It's not been a good night for Di Matteo's men in Turin, with Chelsea falling to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Juventus. Quagliarella opened the scoring in the first half, turing in Pirlo's long-range effort, before goals from Vidal and Giovinco after the break secured all three points. The result, along with Shakhtar Doneetsk's win against FC Nordsjaelland, leaves the Blues on the brink of an exit from the Champions League as the need a win in their final match against the Norwegian side, as well as relying on the other result to go their way too.
  • FULL-TIME!! Juventus 3-0 Chelsea
  • 90' + 2'
Giovinco was booked for taking off his shirt in celebration of that third goal.

    Goal Sebastian Giovinco
  • 90'
GOAL!! Cech rushes out to try and beat Giovinco to a through ball from midfield, however the Juventus attacker nips in and toes it past the keeper to make it 3-0 and wrap up a comfortable victory in Turin.
  • 89'
    Substitution Fabio Quagliarella Paul Pogba
  • 88'
Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba comes on for Juventus for these final couple of minutes.
  • 86'
Hazard flicks it round the corner, looking for Luiz's run, but it's cleared for a throw-in. They work the ball to Cahill who wins a corner, which is headed behind once more before Buffon punches the second set-piece clear.
  • 85'
    Yellow Card Claudio Marchisio
  • 84'
Good opening for Oscar but he tries to work it onto his right boot, getting himself into trouble. The chance is gone.
  • 83'
    Substitution Mirko Vučinić Sebastian Giovinco
  • 82'
Juventus break after Oscar's cross is collected by Buffon. It looks dangerous as Asamoah races free, however Ramires arrives out of nowhere and wins the ball with a fantastic sliding challenge.
  • 81'
Good run from Moses on the right as he skips past Chiellini. The winger's cross is powerful but fails to find a blue jersey.
  • 80'
Hazard takes it but, frustratingly, places it straight into the arms of Buffon. What a waste.
  • 79'
Cole does very well to win a free kick wide on the left, which Chelsea need to do something with...
  • 77'
Ivanovic charges up the right flank before being brought down by Marchisio. Oscar takes the free kick, which eventually finds its way to Luiz's feet, the defender swings a boot at the ball but his shot is well wide.
  • 76'
    Yellow Card Ramires
  • 75'
Double clearance from Bonucci as he firstly blocks Victor Moses' strike and then beats his man to the ball as Luiz knocks it back towards the box.
  • 74'
It should be 3-0 to Juventus! Caceres finds Vucinic with a low cross from the right, but the forward skies it from all of six yards. A poor miss, that.
  • 72'
On comes Torres and Chelsea look as if they've switched to 4-3-3. They certainly need some goals.
  • 71'
Substitution John Obi Mikel Fernando Torres
  • 70'
Hazard tries to get free of his man to get a shot away on the edge of the box, but can't. He instead shifts it to Mata and then gets it back, this time getting an initial shot away only to see it blocked.
  • 68'
    Substitution Stephan Lichtsteiner Martín Cáceres
  • 68'
Vidal disguises a nice pass out wide to Martin Caceres, who has come on as a substitute. He then fires it across goal, however, the ball is blocked and hacked clear.
  • 66'
Torres is jogging up and down the touchline, could he be the man to come on and turn this game on its head? Meanwhile, Chelsea look to build from the back on the pitch, but are still finding Juventus very hard to break down.
  • 64'
It's an upward struggle for Di Matteo's men now, with the crowd in Turin bouncing as their side take further control. However, let's not forget that Juventus came from two goals down to draw 2-2 in the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge. Could it happen?
  • 61'
    Assist Kwadwo Asamoah
  • 61'
    Goal Arturo Vidal
GOAL!! Juventus go 2-0 up! Vucinic starts the move off from the left wing and does very well to find Asamoah, who drifts in off the flank. The midfielder then puts the ball across the face of the box and Vidal sweeps it home past a helpless Cech, leaving the Blues with work to do.
  • 60'
    Substitution César Azpilicueta Victor Moses
  • 58'
Cech tips wide after a good strike from Pirlo. The Blues' keeper then rushes out to force Quagliarella wide and eventually blocks his shot, which is from an impossible angle.
  • 56'
That is so composed from Pirlo as he chips the ball over three Chelsea men to find Barzagli in his own half. The hosts then break but Quagliarella's shot on the turn is saved by Cech. He probably should have passed that, with Lichtsteiner, who is not happy, free in the box.
  • 55'
Juventus come back with Vidal but Ramires tracks him well and blocks the attempted cross.
  • 53'
Azpilicueta tries to get on the end of a deep cross from the left but can't out-jump his man. The Blues are enjoying a good spell of possession, though.
  • 51'
Mata is now brought down by Chiellini at the other end, and this time a free kick is given. The Spaniard takes it himself but hits the wall with the effort.
  • 50'
Big decision from the referee as Vucinic is felled by Cahill in Chelsea's penalty box. The official waves away the forward's appeals for a penalty, though. On second look there is contact, but is there enough? I'm not too sure.
  • 49'
Ivanovic stands up well as Asamoah tries to work his way past the defender with numerous step-overs. The defender then wins the ball and clears the danger.
  • 47'
Lichtsteiner finds Vucinic on the right flank but the forward absolutely blasts the ball over from a tight angle, he had options waiting in the middle too.
  • 46'
A poor pass from Cech to Luiz gives Juventus a throw-in deep in Chelsea territory. The hosts waste it, though, and the Blues have a goal kick.
  • 45'
    Juventus get us back underway.
  • 45' + 1'
HALF-TIME! Chelsea go into the break a goal behind after Pirlo's long-range effort was turned past Cech via Quagliarella's toe, but in truth it could be worse. Cole cleared off the line moments after the opener, with the Blues' keeper also making a number of fine saves before the breakthrough. Though Di Matteo's men haven't quite looked themselves, playing without a striker, they have also created a number of openings with Hazard and Oscar both going close. The Swiss-born manager will be hoping, however, they can hit back in the second 45 as they look to stop Juventus jumping ahead of them in Group E.
  • 45'
Oscar does well to get a shot away on the edge of the Juventus box, but it's high and wide. Meanwhile, we'll have one minute of added time.
  • 43'
Pirlo swings in a corner for Juventus but there's a foul in the box and Chelsea have it back.
  • 41'
    Yellow Card Leonardo Bonucci
  • 41'
Chelsea nearly hit back instantly! As the Premier League side break Hazard manages to send a cross towards Mata, but his first-time strike is kept out by Buffon.
  • 39'
OFF THE LINE! Cole gets back just about in time as he pokes the ball away from goal after a bit of a scramble in the six-yard box sees Lichtsteiner head past Cech. Juventus so close to doubling their lead, there.
  • 38'
    Assist Andrea Pirlo
  • 38'
    Goal Fabio Quagliarella
GOAL!! Pirlo manages to work a little bit of space outside the Blues' box and takes a shot, it looks to be a weak effort however Quagliarella gets a toe on the ball and sends it past Cech, who might have done better. No more than they deserve, though.
  • 35'
What a tackle by Leonardo Bonucci! Ramires bursts through from midfield and plays in Oscar, the Brazilian cuts inside onto his favoured right boot and pulls the trigger, only for the defender to throw himself in the way and block the shot.
  • 32'
Cahill blocks a low cross from Lichtsteiner, who is getting some joy on the right flank.
  • 30'
Another bit of fortune for Chelsea as Kwadwo Asamoah fails to connect with a cross from the Juventus right, the chance coming after Ivanvic misses the ball with his attempted header.
  • 29'
Luiz finds Hazard with a clearance turned long ball with the Belgian bringing it down with a peach of a touch. Eventually the Blues work it to Ramires but he gets the shot all wrong and it flies way off target.
  • 27'
Mata whips in a free kick for Chelsea from the right but it hangs in the air and Buffon claims it high above the players in front of him. Again, that was a bit of a waste.
  • 25'
It's Pirlo and it's straight at Cech. That was very disappointing from the Italian midfielder, in truth.
  • 23'
Ivanovic is judged to have fouled Arturo Vidal on the edge of Chelsea's box and Juventus have a free kick in a very dangerous position.
  • 22'
Vucinic works himself a yard of space with a skillful turn, but his shot from outside the box is tame and Cech saves it with ease.
  • 20'
Another decent stop from Cech, this time holding a Fabio Quagliarella's bouncing effort. Chelsea just need to hold onto the ball a little bit better in Turin.
  • 18'
Lichtsteiner is nearly in for the home side but the linesman's flag is raised. It looks like the correct decision from the replay.
  • 17'
Cole hits a diagonal cross into Juventus' box but it's calmly chested back to Buffon by Giorgio Chiellini and the danger is gone.
  • 15'
Fantastic save from Cech! Claudio Marchisio hits a powerful, curling first-time effort that the Blues' keeper gets a strong hand to and tips round the post. I sense a goal coming.
  • 13'
Pirlo takes the set piece but it's headed away, the Blues are just struggling to get the ball properly clear though as the Italian side have another corner from the right-hand-side.
  • 11'
This is good from the Blues as John Obi Mikel leads the composed passing around midfield, however Ivanovic gives it away and the hosts now have a corner.
  • 9'
Oooh, so close for Chelsea! Oscar skips past a couple of Juventus defenders before slipping in Hazard, the Belgian takes a touch and hits it but Gianluigi Buffon touches it wide and into the side netting.
  • 6'
We've just seen that chance again and Lichtsteiner really should have put his side ahead in what was a let-off for Chelsea. The hosts now waste a corner as they search for an early breakthrough.
  • 4'
JUVENTUS HIT THE POST! Petr Cech makes a brilliant stop from Stephan Lichtsteiner, deflecting the ball onto the post with his knee after a neat clipped cross from the left.
  • 2'
And straight away it looks as if Chelsea are actually lining up with four at the back, Branislav Ivanovic and Cole playing in the full-back positions, with David Luiz and Gary Cahill in the middle. Cesar Azpilicueta is instead starting in midfield.
  • 1'
    Chelsea get us underway.
  • Right, the teams are out and we're almost ready to go.
  • And here's Di Matteo himself to ITV, explaining his selection decision: "We [don't] want to give them a point of reference and try to exploit the spaces we create with our creative players."
  • So, a big call indeed from Chelsea boss Di Matteo with £50 million man Fernando Torres dropped to the bench, even with the most natural replacement Daniel Sturridge unavailable. However, with the trio of Mata, Oscar, who netted twice in the return clash at Stamford Bridge, and Hazard able to swap positions and cause problems with their movement, it could be the best move.
  • Chelsea starting line-up: Cech; Ivanovic, Cahill, Luiz; Azpilicueta, Ramires, Mikel, Oscar, Mata, Cole; Hazard Subs: Turnbull, Bertrand, Romeu, Marin, Piazon, Moses, Torres
  • Juventus starting line-up: Buffon; Chiellini, Barzagli, Bonucci; Lichtsteiner, Marchisio, Pirlo, Vidal, Asamoah; Vucinic, Quagliarella Subs: Storari, Caceres, Pogba, Pepe, Giovinco, Giaccherini, Matri
  • The team news is in and, drum roll, Roberto Di Matteo has decided to drop struggling striker Fernando Torres, with Chelsea lining up in a 3-6-1. Ashley Cole and Cesar Azpilicueta will be employed as full-backs, while Oscar, Juan Mata and Eden Hazard all start - the latter the man to play up front with Daniel Sturridge missing out with illness. Andrea Pirlo returns for Juventus after missing the 0-0 draw with Lazio, with Fabio Quagliarella preferred to Sebastian Giovinco up front in an otherwise full strength lineup.
  • Good evening and welcome to Goal.com's play-by-play text commentary of Chelsea's trip to Juventus in the crucial Champions League Group E clash. With the Blues just one point ahead of the hosts, tonight's fixture will no doubt have a big say in the final standings and, with the reverse tie ending 2-2, it could be another close affair.
