Buffon was untroubled throughout the game. He made a few simple catches but that is all the Italian number one was required to do against a lackluster Catania attack.
The centerhalf had a fairly quiet game, with Catania struggling to cause the Juventus back-line any real problems. What he did have to do, he did well, making some important interceptions.
The left-back was very impressive this evening. He made several brilliant runs forward, nearly scoring in the first-half when his effort hit the side-netting. He also looked solid defensively.
Like his partner in defense, the former Bari man had a quiet match. Looked assured on the ball and kept his concentration at all times.
Started the game poorly, deservedly being booked within the opening minute for a late lunge on Gomez. However, the right-back calmed down and put a solid performance in, providing a useful attacking threat down the wing. Unlucky to pick up a knock and had to be brought off at the break.
The on-loan midfielder had a solid game in the middle of the park. He showed an excellent range of passing and worked hard to get up and down the field.
The tough-tackling midfielder looked decent in the first-half. Kept his passing simple and dealt with the trickery of Gomez and Ricchiuti well but all changed in the second period. His marking declined in quality and his handball led to Catania's equaliser.
The Serbian winger was lively this evening, always willing to get on the ball and run at defenders. Great work to get a cross into the box in the build up to Del Piero's second.
Good game from the player who has come through the ranks at the Old Lady. Linked up well with Grosso and his ability to drift infield helped Juventus control the midfield.
The on-loan forward from Cagliari has impressed since his January arrival, scoring seven goals along the way. However, he was quiet this evening and despite a few nice touches was substituted in the second-half.
A. Del Piero
Brilliant performance from the veteran striker. Scored a double and was involved in all of his team's best attacking play. His footballing brain on the pitch was second to none as his clever movement and flicks constantly saw the opposition fearful.
The keeper made a few decent saves and could not be blamed for either goals, however unfortunate they both were.
Not a great game from the defender who looked shaky and slow. He was unfortunate to give away a penalty for an apparent push on Melo.
The centre-half looked decent this evening. His positioning was top notch and he made some important tackles.
The captain had a disappointing game. The ball rebounded off his leg which lead to Del Piero's second. He struggled to get close to the veteran striker all evening with the timing of his tackling not up to par.
The right-back defended fairly well but provided no threat going forward, which will disappoint the away supporters as their team looked limp in attack.
The attacker tried hard but his passing was not as accurate as it could have been. However, he was still one of his team's better performers.
Not everything came off for the diminutive attacker but he was always willing to take control of the ball, sometimes rare for players who are in a struggling side. He hit the bar in the first half and made a brilliant run in the build-up to his goal.
The midfielder made no impact on the game and was substituted at half-time with Simeone choosing to go two up-front.
The playmaker was very poor this evening. His passing was below average as he struggled to create anything worthy of note.
Hard-working display from the former Red Bull Salzburg midfielder. He was given the runaround by the Juve players in the middle of the park in the first-half but grew stronger as the game went on.
In the first half he made the best of a bad situation, and maintained his energy levels well into the second period. On the rare occasion that he did get chances he could have done better, but there's no questioning his workrate.
- 30 M. Storari
The Danish youngster came on at half-time for Motta and was poor. His positioning left a lot to be desired and he was nowhere to be seen for Catania's first goal.
- 17 A. Traoré
The winger didn't impress when he came on in the second-half. Will be disappointed to have wasted an opportunity which could have seen the side take a 3-1 lead.
- 7 H. Salihamidžić
- 36 M. Giandonato
Replaced Matri and did fairly well, providing a handful for the Catania defense with his strength in the air.
- 30 A. Campagnolo
- 12 G. Marchese
- 23 C. Terlizzi
- 24 S. Pesce
He came on too late to make a real impact.
Looked lively when introduced into the game and scored a superb free-kick to earn his side what could be a very valuable point in their fight against relegation.
The on-loan striker from Saint Etienne missed a few chances but was a real handful for the Juve defenders and his ball into the box set-up Gomez for Catania's first of the game.
