Had very little to do for the most part, in all truth. But when a sense of anticipation was needed, the Brazilian was on his toes, while he covered his angles well when Gilardino’s chance went flashing across him near the end.
Looked happier than of late with his old buddy back in tow, but he did give away the odd entirely needless free kick. Still, ‘the Wall’ was too much for the Fiorentina forward line to breach, and his performance will have brought smiles to many home fans’ faces.
Expertly closed out Gilardino on more than one occasion, adding a solidity to the Nerazzurri backline which has been sorely missing in his recent absence due to injury. Deserved to be part of a winning team thanks to a dominant performance.
Got forward a couple of times in the first half, but was far from convincing in front of goal. However, he was then gifted a first goal of the season by poor Viola defending and grew in confidence of the back of it. One of Inter’s livelier attackers.
Twisted and turned his way beyond Gilardino after some good defending early on, but then Vargas blew straight past him. Later booked for a late challenge on the Peruvian, and looked a little off the pace at times, but that was to be expected.
His dangerous foul on Gilardino probably did his side a favor as it retreated after Cambiasso lost possession. He nearly added a third goal later on, while his control of the midfield was almost unchallenged until Salifu came on.
Had a fair old battle with Vargas down the Inter right both attacking and defending, and held his own against his experienced adversary for the most part. Faded out of the game a little bit, but it was a performance of maturity from the former Lazio youth.
His excellent run and pass set up Pazzini for an early chance which should have seen Inter take the lead. He then forged an opening for himself but his fierce shot was saved by Boruc, before sending Pazzini in for the opener. Faded somewhat after the break and was replaced by Muntari, but this was one of his better outings in blue and black.
The skipper for the night seemed to be caught in two minds as he looked to chip into the box in the first half, and his final decision wasn’t always the right one from such openings. But he patrolled the midfield well as Inter got back on track.
Eventually broke his goal duck just before the interval when finishing superbly after getting in between Natali and Boruc, having earlier passed up a great chance from Coutinho’s through ball. Became provider when sending in Nagatomo and could have grabbed a couple more for himself later on.
Played the grafting role alongside Pazzini for the most part, and made a good chance for Nagtomo on the overlap. Never stopped working, but rarely looked like grabbing a goal himself.
Appeared set to be a one-man wall early on as his defense did little to protect him. Made crucial early saves fromn Pazzini, Coutinho and Nagatomo, but was eventually beaten either side of the break. Left with a thankful task really.
L. De Silvestri
Did superbly to wander across and cover Milito’s charge in the first half, but he rarely managed to stop crosses getting in from his flank as Inter continued to make chances at will.
Never has he looked less like a Serie A quality defender than when he gifted two chances to Inter in the first half, with the second being pounced upon by Pazzini for the opening goal. Constantly pulled out of position, and left his fellow defenders scratching their heads all too often.
Had many of a blue and black persuasion calling for a penalty when he blocked a cross with his bicep, but it was considered to have been ball to hand. Later went missing too often as Inter were allowed to carve through the middle time and again.
Showed endeavor, but quality was lacking when it came to the crunch, with one particularly poor cross when in a great position to get the ball in. Defensively he was given some measure of protection by Vargas’ presence, but he didn’t always look convincing even then.
Did his side no favors when shoving Nagatomo into the path of the ball as the Japanese doubled Inter’s lead. It was just a reflection of his overall performance though, as his drive and commitment was there, but real quality wasn’t.
Completely ineffective as Inter too easily supplied their front men without any undue threat from the former Lecce midfielder. Unsurprisingly hauled off after Nagatomo made it 2-0.
His passing was too loose and directionless for much of the game, and they were lacking any real cutting edge which may have seen them breach the home defense. His inability to buck that trend saw him replaced by Kharja for the final 15 minutes.
Gave Maicon and Faraoni plenty to think about early on, but as Fiorentina began to crumble he lost some of his drive and energy. Picked up again later to help make the odd half-chance, but it was all in vain.
Kept going in the only way he knows how, constantly asking questions of the home defense despite a distinct lack of support for long spells. Got no change out of Lucio and Samuel, but still got himself into a couple of good positions late on thanks mainly to his desire.
A largely ineffective performance from the Serb, who was asked to play up close to Gilardino but very rarely supplied any kind of service to the Italian striker before being replaced by Santiago Silva.

Given 30 minutes to shine in place of Coutinho, but his scuffed shot bounced wide of goal when he should have given his side a third goal.
- 11 R. Álvarez
Replaced Milito midway through the second half, but did little to win over the home fans, who gave him a hostile reception at times.

Replaced the ineffective Munari soon after Inter went two goals up, and in no time he had sent in Gilardino with an excellent floated pass. He immediately improved the level of his side’s play, delivering quality angled passes both in the air and to feet, and was a rock defensively too.
Brought on for Lazzari towards the end.

Replaced the out-of-sorts Ljajic for the last 25 minutes.
