Had no chance with Silva's fantastic effort, and though Zabaleta hit the bar, he was barely called upon until saving from Dzeko late on. Distributed well with his feet.
Replaced at the break after disappointing both in attack and defense. Got forward regularly but crosses were largely overhit or too easy for the defense to deal with. Afforded Zabaleta too much space when the visitors came forward.
Solid enough in the back as he won plenty of headers up against Dzeko and kept the ball well when he found it at his feet.
Never able to get any understanding going with Elmohamady when at right back. Nullified the threat of Zabaleta when switched to the left after the break.
Won headers and tackles aplenty as Dzeko failed to see any of the ball under the Hull skipper's watchful eye. Finally coming of age under Steve Bruce.
Ahmed El Mohamady
Lucky to escape with just a yellow card for a foul on Silva and was disappointing with his balls into the box from the right. Moved into defense in the second half, he barely improved.
Never had the time or space to feed either of Hull's strikers once Kompany was sent off, with his only effort on goal flying wide in the first half.
Ran tirelessly down the left-hand side but the final ball into the box was sometimes lacking. Saw a goal rightly ruled out for offside before being replaced by Boyd in the second half.
Unable to pick the passes that many are so used to seeing due to City getting plenty of men behind the ball. Forced deeper and deeper as he looked for space.
Understanding with Jelavic was excellent in the opening stages but with Kompany off they never really got going. He illustrated that fact with poor pass to Meyler when the Croatian was through on goal and screaming for the ball in the second half.
Movement caused the visitors all sorts of problems, though failure to stay onside did inhibit his own side. Did well to rob Kompany as the defender saw red and tested Hart in the second half.
Saved well from the few shots that came his way, though in truth he was never really stretched by the home side. Reacted angrily to Boyd's second-half dive and was fortunate to escape with a yellow card for a headbutt on the midfielder.
Unable to get forward as he would have liked, the former Arsenal man was solid enough in defense as Hull struggled to penetrate down the right.
One of his best performances in a City shirt as he recovered from being left for dead by Jelavic early on to lead the defense in Kompany's absence. Was his usual assured self when on the ball.
Looked labored from the outset as the movement of Long and Jelavic saw him left behind. Failed to last 10 minutes as he was robbed by Jelavic before hauling him down and receiving his marching orders.
As always was a threat on the right whenever City attacked, with his best moment coming when he rattled the crossbar with a stunning volley from 20 yards. Defended well as Hull used the wings plenty of times.
The difference between the two sides, his piece of quality was enough to give the visitors the lead. Gave the whole Hull defense nightmares with his quick feet and ability to turn defense into attack, finishing with a fine pass to set up Dzeko late.
Struggled to get going as his legs looked heavy in the heart of the midfield. Replaced by Lescott as Pellegrini looked to see the game out.
Helped City keep the ball when it came forward as his quick feet were sometimes too much for the Hull defense. Won plenty of free kicks to help relieve pressure.
Made sure he was always well positioned to deny Hull the chance to play through the middle of the park once Kompany was sent off. Missed a great chance to put the game to bed in the second half.
Spent an hour at the heart of the defense after Kompany was red carded. Added steel to the midfield once Lescott was brought on in the second half.
Struggled to get going in the lone striker's role as he was forced to feed on scraps once the visitors went down to 10 men. Did some good work from defensive set pieces and kept going to seal the points in the final moments.
Ability to pick the ball up between the lines of midfield and defense boosted the Tigers early in the second half, but he didn't do enough in their quest for an equalizer.
Buzzed around causing plenty of problems but performance was marred by a blatant dive midway through the second half.
Had little time to make an impact after his late introduction as a substitute.
