Houston Dynamo 3-1 Columbus Crew: Dynamo run away from Crew

Patrick McDermott

An own goal was the only blemish on the night for the Houston Dynamo, who took an impressive win over Columbus.

The Houston Dynamo were sparked by an early penalty kick and found the net twice more in route to a 3-1 win over the Columbus Crew.

Brad Davis had Houston on the board in the 10th minute from the penalty spot, and Will Bruin added a second just over 20 minutes later to give Houston a two-goal cushion heading into halftime.

An own goal by Jermaine Taylor gave Columbus a glimmer of hope in the 75th, but Cam Weaver's 85th minute strike, set up by Bruin, put the game on ice for the home team.

The win keeps Houston in good position for one of the final playoff spots in the East.
