Houston Dynamo 2-1 Chicago Fire: Davis inspires Dynamo to MLS all-time home unbeaten record

The U.S. international had an assist in the first half and a goal in the second to ensure his side would set a new MLS record.

Brad Davis had a goal and an assist as the Houston Dynamo defeated the Chicago Fire 2-1 at BBVA Compass Stadium on Sunday. With the win, the Dynamo now have a 35-game home unbeaten streak in all competitions, a new MLS record.

The Dynamo opened the scoring midway through the first half, thanks to great work from Davis on the left flank. The U.S. international easily beat Fire right back Wells Thompson, before chipping a tremendous ball into the box which Bruin could hardly miss with a header from six yards out.

The lead lasted barely three minutes. Miscommunication between Corey Ashe and Jermaine Taylor meant a loose ball in Houston's area sat up invitingly for an onrushing Chris Rolfe to sidefoot into the upper corner, leaving Tally Hall with no chance.

The game would stay level until there were just 10 minutes to play. Davis received the ball on the right flank and swung in a dangerous curling cross to the far post. Bobby Boswell jumped and couldn't connect on a header, but the ball bounced in Sean Johnson's far corner.

Jeff Larentowicz had the Fire's best chance to level, but his header struck the crossbar off a corner kick with just minutes to go. The Dynamo were able to celebrate a win and a new record, as the team has not lost a competitive home game since June 18, 2011.
