Produced a brilliant stop from Balotelli in the early exchanges but could do little to keep out Poli's opener. He continued to command his area capably and made a few more important saves late on from Balotelli and Montolivo.
A solid evening at left back as he kept Niang quiet for the majority of the game. He did not allow an awful lot past him down the flank and maintained his discipline throughout the 90 minutes.
Could have perhaps been quicker to react as Poli glided past him to slot home the opening goal. He left his defense exposed at times when he pushed forward, but he did put some decent crosses into the box.
Allowed Poli past him unchallenged to score the opening goal, but improved soon after. For the remainder of the game he stuck close to Balotelli and frustrated the striker with his quick, physical defending.
Had a shaky start to the game but soon asserted himself and organized the defense to good effect. He encouraged his team not to sit so deep and made a couple of crucial interceptions either side of halftime.
Tracked the play through the center of the park well and was not afraid to put in a firm tackle. He helped screen the defense well and was a vital link between the defense and the attack. He did not stop running throughout.
A good performance from the Brazilian. He was eager to win the ball when his team was without possession and he was confident with the ball at his feet. He picked up an early booking but showed great focus to step up his game after that.
The winger chased everything down and did not stop running all afternoon. He continually offered a creative outlet on the left flank and was utilized well by his teammates. His hard work was key to the positive result.
Put in a corner of real quality from which Toni headed in his first goal of the game. He then led the charge which resulted in the second goal. He was industrious in midfield and picked his passes intelligently.
Was rather quiet early on but continued to work hard for his team and chase back to help defend. He almost scored with a header early in the second half but assisted Toni's second with a fantastic cross shortly after.
The 36-year-old showed all of his experience as he brought Verona back from behind to win the game. Two powerful headers got the better of Abbiati, but his movement was brilliant all night.
The keeper was let down by his defense on Luca Toni's first but has only himself to blame for the second. His positioning was poor and that ultimately cost his team the game, despite an impressive save from Jankovic shortly before.
Was very comfortable with the ball at his feet and took no risks when passing the ball up from the back. He must shoulder some of the blame for allowing Toni to go unmarked inside the area for the equalizer, though.
The right back was full of running early on as he chased up and down the right flank. He added extra width and put some decent crosses into the area but allowed Martinho too much space on the counterattack.
The Colombian made some important interceptions in the final third but at times looked a but rushed. He could have done more to stop Toni from heading past Abbiati in the first half and certainly should have done as the striker got his second.
Was largely ineffectual throughout the match as he struggled to get involved in the game. He saw very little of the ball and when he did get it he was far too hesitant to make anything positive happen for his team.
Struggled to deal with Jankovic and could not shake his counterpart even when venturing forward. He was a bit late to get to Toni as the Italian headed in the equalizer but he was left with two players to mark.
Added dynamism to the Milan midfield with some impressive runs from deep, one of which ended with him scoring the opening goal of the game. His passing was impressive but he faded as the game went on.
Had a good early shot and regularly looked to orchestrate the play. He did that to good effect early on but as Verona fought back his influence waned and he was left largely frustrated for the remainder.
S. El Shaarawy
Although he scored against PSV in midweek, the youngster was practically non-existent on the pitch against the newly-promoted side. He created very little and did not test Rafael before being withdrawn in the second half.
Looked up for the game from the off as he forced a save by Rafael within nine minutes. He showed great patience and vision to create the opener for Poli but grew visibly frustrated as the game continued.
Did not use the most of his pace as he struggled to get the better of Albertazzi. He moved inside for long periods but was unable to exploit the space in the channels of the Verona defense.
Replaced Niang in the 64th minute and provided a lot more service to his teammates.
Came on for Constant with 13 minutes left to play and caused the Verona defense to worry with his pace.
Brought on for El Shaarawy in the 64th minute but was unable to test Rafael in his time on the pitch.
