Had almost nothing to do tonight. One shot at goal for Eintracht Frankfurt.
Superbly neutralized the threat of Gekas. Showed wonderful tackling and positioning.
Moved in the center of defense after the substitution of Kacar, but did not really inspire confidence with his marking.
Hobbled off with an injury in the first half. Did well before that.
Had most contacts with the ball for HSV, but lacked end product tonight, barring his pass for Elia in the 48th minute.
The ball stuck like glue to him tonight as he dictated play from the back superbly. Put in a few decent through-ball and won 7 of 11 challenges.
Looked lively in attack and was solid in defense, baring a few minor mistakes.
Nice assist for the only goal of the game and always willing to attack. Had to good opportunities in the first half, but failed to capitalize. Improved after the break to finish the game with something to show.
R. van Nistelrooy
Los Blancos should probably think again about bringing back Van Nistelrooy as the Dutch veteran was way off the pace tonight and his physical shape let him down at times. In all honesty, however, he was not presented with any big chances either.
His involvement tonight was fairly minimal and aside of almost injuring himself in an effort to keep a hopeless ball in play early in the game, he showcased very little.
Had one good chance in the 48th minute, but was denied by Nikolov. Made a few telling passes and was very active in attack. Replaced in the second half.
Put his body on the line for his team tonight. Pulled off a couple of great saves in each half, but there was nothing he could do for Petric's strike.
Impressive showing by the youngster who more than managed to hold his own against Elia. Rock solid defensively and comfortable with the ball at his feet.
Just 68% pass completion just 6 won challenges. Did not offer much in attack in a fairly frustrating night.
Struggled against Ben-Hatira tonight and failed to intervene in the build-up to the goal. Did not offer much in attacking sense.
Left the pitch after a collision with Kacar early in the game. Did well before that, trying to combat the Serbian and Heiko Westermann in central defense for HSV.
Impressive challenge on Ze Roberto in the 85th minute, and this was a rare thing for him tonight. Won just 12 of 20 challenges, and despite battling hard, was somewhat inefficient in this match.
Slotted in at center-back and did relatively well. Showed great tackling, but his positioning and pace let him down at crucial times.
Struggled in defense as he was too reckless in his tackling. His concentration was pretty bad as well.
One could hardly tell if he was on the pitch tonight. Completely invisible and offered virtually nothing in terms of end product.
Never stood a chance against Hamburg's central pairing tonight. Drifted out of the game with every minute and began to grow frustrated as the game unraveled.
Offered fairly little in terms of end product and generally had a hard night down the flank.
- 45 J. Drobný
- 34 M. Bešić
- 35 T. Torun
Replaced the injured Kacar in the 35th minute. Did well tonight defensively, baring one or two tiny mistakes, but could have offered more in attack.
Entered the game at half-time at popped up with the winner. It was not actually that clinical of a performance from the striker as he overplayed a couple of situations, which he might have put away.
