Catrachos narrow gap behind Jamaica in Group B following emphatic victory.
Honduras reversed an early deficit to earn a 7-1 victory over Grenada in Friday's Gold Cup Group B match. Carlos Costly had a hat trick and set up another goal, and Oscar Garcia added three assists on the night as Los Catrachos earned a convincing win.
Clive Murray gave Grenada the lead in the 19th minute, but Honduras stormed back and scored three times in 11 minutes to take a 3-1 lead into the half-time break.
Jerry Bengtson equalized in the 26th minute, moments before Carlos Costly (28) scored the go-ahead goal. Bengtson completed his brace in the 37th minute, doubling Honduras' lead.
Los Catrachos carried their momentum into the second half, and Costly completed his hat trick with goals in the 67th and 71st minutes. Walter Martinez (88') and Alfredo Mejia (90+3') added late goals to round off a comprehensive victory.
The result sees Honduras close the deficit on Jamaica to two points ahead of a showdown in the final matchday of the group. Grenada remain last in Group B with zero points from two games, mathematically eliminating the possibility of a top two finish.
