The keeper was not tested frequently, but when he was he came out on top. He held Dragovic's looping effort on the stroke of half time before denying Harnik from close range after the break. On the whole it was a solid evening for the German.
Looked shaky in defence and misplaced his first pass with just 20 second on the clock. His communication appeared lacking as a mix-up with Schmelzer soon followed. However, Germany held on for a clean sheet which is an improvement.
Put Neuer under pressure moments before the half hour mark with a weak header that almost allowed Harnik in on goal. He did not push on down the left flank enough in the first half but was withdrawn through injury at half-time.

Capped his 100th appearance for the national team with another impressive performance. He caused Austria a number of problems as he ventured forward to overload their defence. He looked dangerous when drifting inside and linked well.
Caused no end of trouble when he dribbled inside from the left flank. He won a number of free kicks for his team but he really should have scored in the 28th minute. However, Almer's save kept him off the scoresheet.
The new Arsenal signing was very bright in possession and always looked likely to make something happen. His combination play with all those around him was impressive and he was the creative hub of the team.

A dynamic performance from the Real Madrid man as he showed great tenacity in midfield, whilst also a desire to force his team up the field and support the forwards. He came close to a great foal in the first half.
Linked well with Lahm on the right flank and put some dangerous crosses into the area, most notably his low, driven delivery which Klose diverted into the back of the net. He proved dangerous when moving inside and netted the final goal of the game.
Equalled Gerd Muller's all-time scoring record for Germany with the 68th strike of his international career. His movement was impressive and he proved very sharp in the final third on what was a memorable night for the striker.
The keeper looked very confident when coming off of his line to claim the ball in the air. He made a number of good stops, particularly his double-save to deny Reus and Klose just before the half-hour mark.

Found the pace of Reus tough to deal with and he was regularly caught short by the BVB man. He did not close the play quickly enough and allowed Germany the space to put together some delightful passing moves.
The centre-back left huge amounts of space in the channels which Germany exploited time and again. He was too slow to close the play and left his team looking rather porous at the back.
The left-back found it difficult to cope with Lahm and Muller when the both pushed into his area. He allowed the latter the space in which to assist the opening goal and rarely got forward himself.
He was perhaps unfortunate that his attempt clearance hit Klose and went into the back of the net, as other than that he put in a solid performance. He refused to let Germany play the ball around him and was fully committed.

Had moments of good one-touch play, but they happened in areas far to deep to damage the hosts. He was unable to create anything and he did not offer Fuchs enough protection against Lahm and Muller.
Had a couple of bright moments, particularly when he got the better of Boateng and Howedes early in the second half. He almost scored with a delightful flick but he was unable to beat Neuer.
The new Stoke City signing struggled to make an impact on the game. He was restricted to the right flank in the first half and was forced to help defend. He did not get into any dangerous areas and was withdrawn in the second half.
