Full time. Goals from Per Mertesacker, Mesut Ozil, and Thomas Muller give Germany a relatively comfortable 3-0 victory over Faroe Islands. The hosts acquitted themselves fairly well throughout, but were mostly outclassed by the individual talents spread amongst the German side. Joachim Low's men can see the lights of Rio, and it looks like they'll be heading there! I'm Martin Macdonald, thanks for joining us, see you next time!
90' + 1'
The Germany are just professionally knocking the ball round at the moment, they know there's no need to further exert themselves.
Schmelzer gets down to the byline and looks to stand a cross to the back post, but it is grossly overhit and Faroe Islands get the goal kick.
3-0 is a relatively comfortable scoreline for Germany, but they've been far from their best tonight. It's very much been a run of the mill victory.
And that'll be Muller's last contribution to the match. He's coming off to be replaced by Sidney Sam for the last few minutes of play.
Assist Philipp Lahm
Goal Thomas Müller
GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAL FOR GERMANY!!!! That's 3-0!! Lahm picks out Muller inside the area and the Bayern man takes a slightly heavy touch. However, he manages to stretch out a leg and smash the ball into the roof of the net!
Schurrle looks to take on the full back down the left-hand side before sharply turning inside. He thinks about the shot on goal but instead slides the ball out to the right for Lahm.
Joachim Low's men are cruising at the moment. They have only been denied entry to the World Cup this evening due to Sweden's victory over Kazakhstan earlier today, but it's safe to say we'll see the Germans in Rio.
One of the biggest stories to come out of this match tonight is the fact that Miroslav Klose will NOT break Gerd Muller's goalscoring record this evening. He's coming off to be replaced by Max Kruse.
Christian Lamhauge Holst
Both manages react to that goal with a couple of changes. Germany withdraw Draxler for Andre Schurrle and for Faroe Islands, Christian Holst comes off for Hallur Hansson.
Penalty Goal Mesut Özil
GOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAL FOR GERMANY!!!! Ozil steps up and waits for the 'keeper to move before confidently dispatching into the bottom left corner! 2-0!
Red Card Atli Gregersen
Gregersen is sent off for a last-man challenge inside the area!
PENALTY KICK TO GERMANY!
SUPERB GOALKEEPING FROM NIELSEN!! The Faroese initially makes a fantastic save to deny Ozil and then dives at the feet of Klose to prevent the rebound!
Faroe Islands get the ball rolling with the changes. Johan Edmundsson is replaced by Christian Mouritsen.
Baldvinsson clears off the line!!! Draxler stands a cross up to the back post and Khedira powers a header towards the bottom corner, but the Faroe Islands man is on hand to make a superb clearance!
Holst is involved in the action once again as he shakes off the challenge of Schmelzer before digging out a cross from the byline. Neuer is wise to it though, and claims the cross out of the air.
Holst takes a sore one in the middle of the park as he shifts the ball past Schmelzer, only to be upended by the Dortmund man. Free kick to Faroe Islands inside the centre circle.
Poor finish in the end from Draxler. The 19-year-old twists and turns inside the area and looks to pick his spot in the bottom corner, but his eventual left-footed finish trickles into the hands of the 'keeper.
Gregersen looks to pick out Baldvinsson down the right-hand side with a floated ball across the pitch but there's too much on it which allows Neuer to come out and make the claim.
The Germans are starting to pull out the party tricks in the final third with their tricks and flicks. Probably not the best idea since they only lead by a goal!
Germany looking pretty comfortable at the moment. Faroe Islands have put in a lot of graft but they have been left wanting when it comes to quality in the final third.
Good play from Udsen! The Faroe Islands man takes on Lahm down the left before cutting inside, but he just gets crowded out as Kroos comes across to help out his compatriot.
Klose's search for the record-breaking goal continues! The Lazio man turns sharply inside the box and squeezes out a shot towards the bottom corner, but his attempt cannons off a Faroe leg and goes out for a corner.
OZIIIILLLLLL!!!! That couldn't have been more than a few inches away! The former Real Madrid man steps up and whips a free kick towards goal, but his attempt bounces just wide of the mark. Nielsen was certainly scrambling!
HOLST!!! That's a really decent effort! The Faroes No.10 latches on to a knockdown and lashes a half-volley towards goal that goes just wide of the right-hand post!
Faroe Islands get us back under way!
Half time. Per Mertesacker's goal is the difference at the break and Germany are well on their way to taking another massive step towards qualification for the World Cup.
Germany have put plenty of balls into the box so far but for the most part Faroe Islands have defended bravely. Fair play to them, they are giving it their all at the back.
Some worrying scenes for Germany at the moment as Thomas Muller went down under a challenge inside the area. He's clutching his ankle and grimacing but it looks like he'll be okay.
Yellow Card Pól Jóhannus Justinussen
That's a really poor challenge from Justinussen! The Faroe Islands full back goes in dangerously on Lahm and earns himself a deserved yellow card!
PENALTY SHOUT FOR GERMANY!! Draxler bursts into the box and goes down under the challenge of Justinussen, but the referee only gives the corner kick! That was touch and go, could have gone either way!
Why not have a go there!? The ball breaks beautifully to Schmelzer on the edge of the box but the Dortmund man opts not to have a crack but to float a poor cross into the area! That was begging for a strike at goal!
DRAXLER!!! GREAT SAVE BY NIELSEN!! The Schalke man receives the ball from the set-piece and rifles a strike at goal, but he Faroe Islands 'keeper stretches out a strong palm to beat the ball away! That was almost 2-0!
Free kick to Germany now, which Kroos will take from the left-hand side.
Germany playing some lovely stuff on the edge of the box at the moment. Ozil, Schmelzer, and Muller are all involved as they look to find an opening.
Good defending from Davidsen!! Lahm goes on a marauding run down the right before shifting the ball onto his left-foot. He attempts to smash a strike at goal but the Faroe Islands defender came in with a break block clear the ball.
Schmelzer and Draxler have struck up quite the partnership down that left-hand side so far, with the Dortmund man's overlapping runs proving to be a problem for the Faroe Islands. This time though, he's offside.
Even at one goal down, it's a long way back for the hosts! How many can the Germans notch up here?
Assist Jerome Boateng
Goal Per Mertesacker
GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAL FOR GERMANY!!! AND IT'S PER MERTESACKER!!
Draxler tries his luck again!! Kross threads a lovely pass inbetween the Faroes midfield and defence and the German lashes a superb strike towards goal, but unlucky for him his strike whistles by the post. Unlucky!
As you can imagine, it's been all-Germany so far. Joachim Low's men have dominated possession from the get-go, but that elusive opening goal is still evading them.
Draxlerrrr! He should have done better with that one! Muller gallops down the right-hand side and reverses a cross to the edge of the box for the Schalke man, but he doesn't catch his shot right, and the 'keeper makes the save.
Arsenal new-boy Mesut Ozil looks to pick out his compatriot Lahm on the right-hand side, but he just slightly overhit his pass, and Faroe Islands get the throw in deep in their own half.
We are under way in this World Cup Qualifier!
Klose took his tally to 68 in Friday's win over Austria, and with the calibre of opponent he finds himself up against tonight, you'd fancy him to break the record.
It's a potentially massive night for one of the German's tonight. A goal from Miroslav Klose would see the Lazio star surpass Gerd Muller's all-time national goalscoring record for his country. Quite a feat!
