90' + 4'
It's full time at Wembley after a chaotic ending in which England looked to have salvaged a draw but ultimately conceded a late goal to lose 3-2 at home. It is the Three Lions' first defeat since France over a year ago.
90' + 2'
Assist Mark van Bommel
90' + 2'
Goal Arjen Robben
Robben grabs a late winner which takes a cruel deflection to put it past keeper Hart. Urby Emanuelson's cross was cleared to van Bommel after Richards' header, and the AC Milan midfielder cushioned the ball perfectly for Robben to cut inside Leighton Baines and curl a shot around the left back.
90' + 1'
Assist Phil Jones
90' + 1'
Goal Ashley Young
Ashley Young dinks the ball over Stelelenberg to equalise after Scott Parker had nearly created an opening a moment earlier but the ball broke via Walcott to Phil Jones whose first time ball was expertly weighted for the Man U winger to run on to.
Leighton Baines advances down the left and rolls a pass on the outside of the right back towards Downing but overhits it. England are pouring players forward in search of a goal.
Daniel Sturridge limps off late in the game to be replaced by Theo Walcott.
Dirk Kuyt blasts a shot at Hart from outside the box.
Assist Leighton Baines
Goal Gary Cahill
Gary Cahill runs through between between right back and centre back and slides the ball past Stekelenberg's left, despite appearing to be slightly offside.
Fraizer Campbell's moves to turn and shoots but it is blocked.
Phil Jones looks to put Welbeck through on goal facing a tightly packed box but is unable to. Holland break quickly through Robben but the move is defended.
Scott Parker looks to put a runner away with a through ball but it is called offside.
Yellow Card Joris Mathijsen
Sturridge hits the ball at Stekelenberg with the goal in front of him after Leighton Baines' low shot flies to him at an awkward angle.
Oliver Platt Live at Wembley: England have tried to force the issue too much here - perhaps missing the calming influence of Gareth Barry in midfield - and they have been punished. The warning signs were there for all to see when Scott Parker and Ashley Young lost the ball in midfield, allowing Klaas-Jan Huntelaar a shooting opportunity. England did not heed them, and have paid the price.
Keeper Joe Hart comes off his line to claim a cross but misses it, and he is lucky no Holland player was there to meet the ball as it flew across goal.
Robben threatens to extend the Dutch lead after taking on Phil Jones one-on-one before firing a shot that Micah Richards blocks.
England fire just wide with a left foot volley after a cross from the right wing.
Wayne Veysey live: Wembley stands to applaud Chris Smalling as he is stretcherd off the pitch following a sickening looking injury after clashing with Klaas-Jan Huntelaar in the cross for the second goal. The Manchester United defender lost a lot of blood in the clash of heads, which also left the Dutchman requiring lengthy treatment. Down on the touchline, Smalling is conscious and is not believed to be in a neck brace but his condition is being treated as serious by the England medical staff.
Luuk de Jong
Both players are taken off in the aftermath of the clash, with Smalling appearing to be unconscious and requring a stretcher to depart the field. Huntelaar manages to get to his feet albeit dazed from the challenge.
Assist Dirk Kuyt
Goal Klaas-Jan Huntelaar
Huntelaar heads in a second with the Three Lions still reeling after Dirk Kuyt whips in a cross from the right wing. The Schalke striker beats Chris Smalling to the ball to head past Joe Hart leaving both on the floor after a stiff clash of heads.
Assist Nigel De Jong
Goal Arjen Robben
Arjen Robben breaks down the centre of the pitch to finish with a firm left footed strike from outside the box into the bottom right corner of the goal. Huntelaar had expertly dragged Chris Smalling wide with a run towards the right corner flag to make space for the winger to fire his shot.
The tempo is slow after the start of the half as the two sides exchange possession and move up the pitch slowly. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar brings some variety with a powerful shot from outside the box that is wide of the left post.
Sturridge forces a good save at the near post from Stekelenberg with a good shot following a corner.
Sneijder almost finds Boulahrouz running down the right wing with a chipped through ball, but the defender is unable to reach it.
Yellow Card Micah Richards
Micah Richards is yellow carded after sliding in on Arjen Robben.
For Holland, Van Persie is taken off for Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, while Stijn Schaars comes on for Erik Pieters.
Robin van Persie
James Milner comes on for Gareth Barry at half time.
And the second half gets underway at Wembley
Wayne Veysey live at Wembley: The half-time whistle is greeted by a few jeers and mostly silence at a two-thirds full Wembley. England have shown flashes of effervesence, particularly from Danny Welbeck and sub Daniel Sturridge. But Holland have played well within themselves and there has been a chronic lack of intensity to the match.
And it's half time at Wembley as both teams head into the tunnel.
Holland build a spell of possession in the centre of the park but Kuyt's pass to Sneijder goes out for a throw in.
Johnson crosses the ball with his right foot after turning back on left wing and Young heads over.
Oliver Platt live at Wembley: There was no visible sign of an injury to Steven Gerrard, but he did head straight down the tunnel upon being substituted. The Liverpool midfielder didn't exactly display the sort of chemistry Danny Welbeck has developed with Wayne Rooney this season; the pair were active in their movement but sloppy when they looked to exchange passes. It's hard to deduce much, of course, from 30 minutes of action.
Scott Parker is dumped on the ground by Nigel De Jong's challenge but Ashley Young's freekick flies over the heads of the jumping Micah Richards and Chris Smalling.
Adam Johnson floats a cross to the back post towards Sturridge and Pieters heads out for a corner. The resulting delivery is headed back across goal but is then cleared.
Sneijder and Robben combine on the left side of the pitch to lay the ball off for van Persie, who blazes well over.
Sturridge's first contribution is to roll a tempting ball across the six yard box after getting to the by-line on his right foot.
Steven Gerrard comes off for Daniel Sturridge, and the attacking three shift positions with Johnson moving to the left flank and Young to the centre to accommodate the Chelsea man on the right of midfield.
Micah Richards goes forward to good effect as he gets beyond the full back on the edge of the box and pulls the ball back to Ashley Young in the box. Johnny Heitinga is quick to clear the ball out of Young's feet however.
Adam Johnson jinks back and forth on the right side of the Holland penalty area and works a firm right footed shot that is deflected for a corner. It looked to be accurate.
Welbeck darts through on goal following a short back pass from Dirk Kuyt, but Stekelenberg is quick off his line to avert danger.
Welbeck is fouled by Johnny Heitinga earning a freekick on the left flank which is taken by Ashley Young. Stekelenberg punches out the cross.
Oliver Platt Live at Wembley: The appointment of Scott Parker as England captain for this match seems to have the approval of most of this Wembley crowd. Two typically committed defensive challenges have drawn cheers from the England supporters; early on, Parker stopped Robin van Persie in his tracks just outside the penalty area and later the Tottenham man put his body on the line in order to block a Wesley Sneijder shot. It's been somewhat sloppy from both sides otherwise, though.
Holland are keeping their defensive midfield duo of Mark Van Bommel and Nigel De Jong stationed in front of their back four making it difficult for England to pass through the middle. Accordingly, the Three Lions work the ball down the flanks and are closed down quickly in the final third of the pitch.
Robin Van Persie drifts out to the left wing and steps inside Smalling. He shoots with his right foot but it is Parker again who blocks the shot.
Gerrard and Young exchange passes on the edge of the Holland box but the Dutch side manage to win the ball back.
Wayne Veysey live at Wembley: England have made a reasonably bright start here but there is undoubtedly a low-key feel to this encounter. There is a vast bank of empty red seats in the top tier at the far end of the stadium and many other spaces in this magnificent venue. An attendance estimate? Around 65,000, including 1,700 Oranje followers. Which, for a February friendly, is not bad at all.
Sneijder takes the corner and Holland retake possession in the aftermath, retaining a presence in the England box. Sneijder ends the move when he attempts to cross but overhits it by a substantial margin.
Scott Parker charges down Sneijder's shot from outside the box, but the ball is worked to Arjen Robben who forces a save from keeper Hart with a powerful shot after Richards backs off him inside the penalty box.
Dirk Kuyt and Khaled Boulahrouz exchange passes down the right hand side but the right back's ball forward goes out for a goal kick to the Liverpool man's frustration.
Left back Erik Pieters attempts to cross first time after receiving the ball from Robben, but it goes over keeper Joe Hart for a goal kick.
Wesley Sneijder slides a through ball behind Micah Richards...but Arjen Robben is not there in a miscommunication between the two.
Danny Welbeck drops off the front and wins a cheer from the crowd with an elegant turn to lay the ball off for Steven Gerrard. Gerrard lofts a ball to the right hand side of the Holland box but Adam Johnson is unable to get on the end of it.
Gary Cahill heads over the bar after a well timed run at the near post from Ashley Young's corner.
Arjen Robben tracks Micah Richard's run all the way to the edge of his own box but his pass back forces Maarten Stekelenberg to dash to the post to reach the ball.
Scott Parker gets into a couple of tackles on the edge of England's box. The pressure continues and Robin van Persie controls the ball in the penalty area before passing across. Chris Smalling puts the ball out for a corner to end the threat.
And Netherlands get the match underway at Wembley!
Holland start the team that lost the World Cup final with the exception of their two full back positions, where Khalid Boulahrouz starts at right back and Erik Pieters at left back. Robin van Persie leads his side's attack.
Chris Smalling starts in central defence alongside Gary Cahill, while Adam Johnson starts in attack with Danny Welbeck. Scott Parker captains the side tonight after his appointment earlier ahead of tonights game.
Wayne Veysey Live at Wembley: It's 10 minutes before kick-off here and sell-out Wembley is barely half full. The contrast with the passion, excitement and atmosphere of Sunday's Carling Cup final could not be more marked. Nevertheless, the Oranje followers should provide some colour and noise. Around 1,700 Holland fans have tickets for this game and have filled up a section behind the goal to the left of Wembley's east press box.
Netherlands: Stekelenburg; Boulahrouz, Heitinga, Mathijsen, Pieters; Van Bommel, De Jong; Robben, Sneijder, Kuyt; Van Persie. Subs: Krul, Emanuelson, Vlaar, Strootman, Schaars, Huntelaar, Wijnaldum, Luuk de Jong, Bruma, John, Narsingh.
England: Hart; Richards, Smalling, Cahill, Baines; Parker, Barry; Adam Johnson, Gerrard, Young; Welbeck. Subs: Ashley Cole, Green, Jones, Lescott, Milner, Walcott, Downing, Campbell, Sturridge, Carson.
