Chris Pontius led the way with a brace for D.C. United as the club walked away the comfortable winner against Vancouver.D.C. United earned its first home win since May with a 4-0 thrashing of the Vancouver Whitecaps. Chirs Pontius scored once on either side of the half with Andy Najar and Stephen King rounding out the scoreline.
The visiting Whitecaps did well to hold off United for most of the first half, but Pontius got on the end of a Dwayne De Rosario cross and poked it home just moments before the break. Things got worse for Vancouver two minutes into the second half when Najar slipped in a goal from a tough angle to make it 2-0.
Pontius scored his second of the night in the 70th on a rebound from a King shot, putting the match out of reach. But King was not to be denied his goal. De Rosario was once again involved, setting the table for King to put a left-footed shot home and round out the scoring.
