Dwayne De Rosario's gorgeous opener was negated by a Bobby Convey strike as the Eastern Conference bottom-feeders shared the spoils.Dwayne De Rosario and Bobby Convey turned back the clock Saturday, showing glimpses of their former All-Star selves as Eastern Conference cellar dwellars D.C. United and Toronto FC battled to a 1-1 draw.
De Rosario opened the scoring at RFK Stadium in spectacular fashion with his 10th-minute strike, evading a pair of challenges before bending a 30-yard blast past Joe Bendik. It was just the third goal of the season for the injury-hampered De Rosario, tying him with Luis Silva for the team lead.
But Toronto answered in the 60th minute. Reggie Lambe collected an errant back-heel clearance from Dejan Jakovic before hitting a low centering feed that Bobby Convey hammered home for his first goal since May 2012 with Sporting Kansas City.
United (3-17-5) remains firmly entrenched as the worst team in MLS, while Toronto (4-12-9) is only topping D.C. and Chivas USA.
