In a tussle between the teams with the worst records in MLS thus far, Toronto came out a goal to the good.

Former D.C. United defender Ryan Nelsen won on his coaching return to the capital, with Toronto FC coming from behind to claim a 2-1 result.

D.C. opened the scoring. After a quarter hour, Nick DeLeon went on a surging run that began deep in his own half. As he crossed into the TFC penalty box, a Gabe Agbossoumonde nick brought him sprawling to the ground. Dwayne De Rosario tucked the penalty under Joe Bendik.

Robbie Earnshaw equalized on the half hour mark. On a free kick booted from the Toronto half, the 32-year-old pushed off Brandon McDonald and bounced a header past Bill Hamid. The Welsh striker celebrated with a front flip.

The winner came, 10 minutes later, from another set piece. A Luis Silva delivery nicked off the back of Daniel Woolard's helmet on the way in.

The result leaves United, on six points, as the only team still in the single digits. Toronto now has 11.
