Boskovic came off the bench to score his first MLS goal in his 39th regular season appearance.Technically, nothing changed. Chivas USA remained bottom of the West and D.C. United is still fourth in the East. But D.C.'s 1-0 win over the Goats on Sunday solidified United's position (equal with the New York Red Bulls on points) and all but killed Chivas' postseason ambitions (10 points off a playoff position).
It also marked the first MLS goal for Branko Boskovic. The D.C. Designated Player has been frustrated with a lack of playing time, frequently making way early in this matches. For this game, he entered as a substitute, but made his minutes count.
Boskovic had been on the field less than 10 minutes when he scored. Lionard Pajoy twisted free along the right and coaxed a ball into the box, where Boskovic's diving header nodded the ball inside the far post for the only goal of the game.
