Live Commentary

  • Not what you would call a dominant showing, but New York will move forward. Dallas is out of the playoffs. Henry with the goal to ice it late, Dallas was pushing and he got in clean. Lindpere with the early goal that really decided the match. Disappointment for the 10,000 in the crowd, but a just result.
  • 90' + 8'
    Goal Thierry Henry
Hard to see much of a way back for Dallas, and Henry puts the match to bed. That'll do it. New York will go through. A clear break on goal, had all the time in the world. Even had the first shot saved and had time to collect and finish. Game over.
  • 90' + 4'
Too wasteful from Dallas. Ihemelu just passed it to space with only New York players around.
  • 90' + 3'
Benitez just wasted a chance to get a cross in.
  • 90' + 1'
Six minutes added on. Good news for the home side.
  • 90'
No official word on stoppage time yet. Will probably be a good bit. Players down on the pitch right now. Looks like the sideline official is trying to figure out how much to add. The stretcher is coming out to carry off Loyd, who hasn't gotten up since the collision on the corner. Dallas will likely have to finish this 10 on 10.
  • 89'
Crowd on its feet for the corner, won by Shea, but the ball goes through the box without a touch and now belongs to New York.
  • 88'
Shea's cross is caught and rolled out. Dallas wins it back near midfield. Still being patient, but the urgency needs to come.
  • 87'
Maicon Santos just pulled a shot wide of the mark. Dallas being limited to long-range efforts.
  • 85'
And from that free kick Henry gets on the end of it, turns and forces a save out of Hartman, Would have put this match to bed.
  • 85'
New York wins a free kick, and taking plenty of time to put it back in play.
  • 84'
Dallas, as would be expected, starting to push the pace. Jackson just had a crack, saved easily by Rost.
  • 82'
    SubstitutionDane Richards Carlos Mendes
  • 82'
    SubstitutionRicardo Villar F. Araya
  • 81'
Hernandez limps back on to give Dallas the numerical advantage. Good chance for the Hoops to push play. New York is getting set to bring on Carlos Mendez to try and stay steady. Dane Richards is off.
  • 79'
    Red Card Jan Gunnar Solli
Could this be a turning point? New York will finish the match with 10 men. Daniel Hernandez is down on the pitch though. Tackle came in from behind from Jan Gunnar Soli and Soli is off.
  • 77'
13 minutes plus stoppage for Dallas to get back into this match. New York has made life tough since scoring, and Dallas hasn't found much of an answer.
  • 76'
Jackson to Shea, great ball to slip the winger in and a deft little chip that has to be cleared off the line. Better from Dallas.
  • 75'
Another wasted chance for Jackson. Tried to bend it into a corner but lacked any kind of pace from 23 out.
  • 73'
    SubstitutionMarvin Chávez Maicon Santos
Dallas bringing on another striker. Good thought what with the lack of production so far. His first run isn't a good one though, just took it out of play.
  • 72'
Jackson wins a corner for Dallas. Had a chance to have a go but killed his own momentum. New York escapes unharmed.
  • 70'
Now some chippy play. Good to see really. Dallas has a free kick as well.
  • 67'
    SubstitutionAndrew Jacobson Daniel Cruz
  • 67'
Lindpere has really started to influence this game. Another long run, ends with Henry trying a little flick at goal. Didn't come off, but Dallas is struggling to deal with him right now.
  • 64'
Dallas looks much more unsure of itself right now than it did in the first half.
  • 62'
Maybe that will be enough to spark some life into this match. Home fans went pretty silent there for a moment, and Dallas players looked deflated.
  • 61'
    Goal Joel Lindpere
And there's the first goal of the game. Lindpere puts it under Hartman. Some shoddy defending to say the least. Bad giveaway to start the move Lindpere shot is pushed wide. Played back in by Richards and put home.
  • 59'
    SubstitutionDax McCarty Mehdi Ballouchy
  • 59'
After some streamers get cleared out of Rost's goal, Hernandez hits a shot into the side netting.
  • 56'
Nothing coming off for either side right now. Combinations are all a touch off, and it's not making for the end to end playoff action normally expected. Jackson did just draw a foul in a good spot for Dallas.
  • 53'
Much slower pace of play than you would expect. Maybe both sides are being cautious. Chavez just hit a stinger across the mouth of the goal though. A bit of life maybe?
  • 51'
    Yellow Card Daniel Hernández
Hernandez picks up a booking. Just late on the tackle. This match has seen a couple of rather soft cards - Ream and Hernandez - and it really hasn't been very chippy.
  • 50'
Jacobson forced the clear another ball behind for another corner. Not the start Dallas was looking for here.
  • 49'
Lindpere wins a corner for New York.
  • 46'
Shea with a weak effort at goal. Probably should have had a swing with his right, tried to get it on his stronger left foot and it didn't come off.
  • 46'
    Back in action.
  • Just got passed some halftime stats. They basically tell the same story. Late push from New York has the visiting side end with 6 shots but only one on goal. Dallas has 10 and 4. Three corners for Dallas, two for New York. Fouls are close. 5 for NY 6 for FCD. One card on either side of the ball.
  • First half comes to an end. No goals, few chances. It's been cagey. Dallas has had the better of it, but New York came into the game in the last 10 minutes or so. Sets up for a good second half. Both teams look confident at the back, so it might take a bad mistake or a great moment to bring goals to this game.
  • 45'
Sustained pressure from New York here. Good movement of the ball. Best run of play from the Red Bulls so far. It ends with a bad foul from Henry, but the match is coming back closer to level now.
  • 44'
Real gaffe for Hartman who just spilled two rebounds in a row. Good job by his defenders to cover.
  • 40'
Loyd picks out Jackson this time from the right side and the header is once again wide of the mark. That goes down as a chance though.
  • 37'
Ream forces a save after Shea's clearance falls kindly to him. Not many options, and Hartman had it all the way, but some positive signs from the Red Bulls.
  • 36'
Neat little pass from Henry into the path of Richards, Hartman forced into action for really the first time. Came out and claimed it well. But it's finally the Red Bulls applying a bit of the pressure.
  • 34'
More pressure from Dallas. Still not many chances really coming from it though. New York looks well organized. The visitors are giving up space on the flanks, but not much room to move in the middle of the park.
  • 32'
Nice dummy from Henry, gets the pass right back to him and tries to pick out the corner. Quality stuff from the French star.
  • 31'
    Yellow Card Ugo Ihemelu
Iffy moment at the back from Ihemelu. Thought he'd been fouled and then fouled Richards in return. Very nearly a penalty, and it will be a booking and a dangerous free kick.
  • 29'
Lindpere flagged offside. And what started as Dallas in control, has continued that way for just about a full half-hour here. New York really struggling to find any footing.
  • 28'
    Free kick comes to nothing.
  • 27'
    Yellow Card Tim Ream
Ream picks up the first booking of the night. Cheap one to take as well.
  • 26'
George John showing some impressive pace to cut off Richards after a bumble of a clearance. Never got the corner turned on his.
  • 24'
Nice exchange between Richards and Lindpere near the top corner of the box. Lyod read it well, drew a foul from Lindpere. And Dallas goes right back to taking pop-shots at goal.
  • 21'
Daniel Hernandez just got a little talking to from the ref for a clip of Henry. Tinio makes sure to waste possession as quickly as possible from the restart.
  • 20'
Marquez wins the corner but puts his header just over the bar. Some real threats for the Red Bulls on set plays, same could be said of Dallas.
  • 19'
Shea nearly picked out Jackson with a ball in from the left. Looked innocent at first, but Rost had to claim it. New York comes back and wins a corner.
  • 17'
Still Dallas very much on top right now. No real chances since the Chavez shot, but the Red Bulls are struggling to get on the ball.
  • 14'
Another chance for Dallas and this one does fall kindly to Chavez after Loyd got down the flank. Crushed the shot just wide of the mark.
  • 12'
New York finally made an attacking move at least. Miller tried to find Richards on the run but hit the ball too long.
  • 11'
Benitez follows with a cross in, almost fell kindly for Chavez before Miller got it clear.
  • 10'
Dallas is really getting the better of the opening exchanges. Shea down the left, cross is a bit hard for Jackson this time.
  • 9'
Strange run of play there. Red Bulls misplay a ball at the back and it looked like Jackson would get to it in time. Rost gets it out for another corner, which is finally cleared well.
  • 7'
First involvement for Brek Shea. It all leads to Jacobson winning the first corner of the night.
  • 6'
He instead tries to curl one into a dangerous spot. Dallas gets it clear and Joel Lindpere makes sure it's slashed well out of play.
  • 5'
Foul here on FCD. Good spot for New York to work something up from the training ground. Marquez could even have a go.
  • 4'
First dangerous moment of the night. Cross in from the left by Dallas is punched away by Rost before Jackson can get a head to it.
  • 3'
Early play is all in the middle of the pitch. Anything but a blistering start here. Nice and slow, controlled play.
  • 2'
New York with the early touches. Henry just got flagged for offside and Dallas finally gets a touch of the ball. Jacobson has a go, soft and slow style.
  • 1'
  • Real close to getting this underway. Teams are on the pitch. Rangers rain-out has a bigger crowd here than I think maybe was expected. Still not massive, but still filling in as well.
  • Allen Ramsey here at Pizza Hut park to take you through all the action live as it happens. Starting to be a chilly night in Texas terms, winds are picking up a bit as the front moves in. Should make for a good temp to play the match at a high speed. Speaking of speed, there is plenty of it on the field. Both teams can play at breakneck speeds. Look for Dallas to really try and push the pace early on.
  • Looks like it's going to be a nice night here in Frisco for the first playoff game of the 2011 season. We've got FC Dallas hosting the New York Red Bulls, and the team sheets are in. No real shockers here. Henry and Dane Richards up top for New York. Agudelo is on the bench. Dallas is headlined by Brek Shea but will have to rely heavily on Jackson Goncalves to run the point.
