Playing in 102-degree weather, Marvin Chávez continued his solid play as FC Dallas recorded another shutout victory.

FC Dallas midfielder Marvin Chávez scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Chivas USA on Sunday at Pizza Hut Park, which saw temperatures reach 102 degrees for the first time ever.

Chávez, who played the entire 90 minutes, has three goals in the last two league games after recording a brace against the New York Red Bulls last Saturday.

Dallas moved within three points of first place in the Western Conference after recording its eighth shutout in nine games.

Chávez' goal came in the 26th minute when his shot was deflected into the back of the net. The play was set up by Ruben Luna, who found his teammate in the box.
