Sporting Kansas City was blown apart by Mario Pavone and Cruz Azul in the Champions League quarterfinals.
The home side got off to a roaring start, Pavone wiping out KC's narrow first-leg lead with a strike in just the second minute.
He picked up his second in the 23rd minute, pouncing on a spilled shot to tap home and give his side the aggregate advantage.
Benny Feilhaber brought the Major League Soccer side back into the game with a strike just before halftime, firing a low shot from outside the area just inside the far post.
But Pavone was just too much for Sporting. The striker met a low Sergio Napoles cross with a near post run and hit a first-time shot to restore Cuz Azul's overall lead not long after the restart.
Cruz Azul put itself out of reach in the 65th minute. Marco Fabian did brilliantly on the left to get down the wing and cut back to Pavone, and although Pavone's shot was blocked, Mauro Formica cleaned up on the rebound to make it 4-2 on aggregate.
Christian Gimenez piled on the misery a few minutes later, collecting a forward header and sliding a deft finish past Eric Kronberg.
