Just a few days after progressing to the final of the U.S. Open Cup, Kansas City went on the road and claimed three points against Columbus.
Heading into the game, these two teams had conceded the least in MLS this year - 17 goals each.
The first goal was created by Peterson Joseph and finished by Jacob Peterson in the sixth minute. Joseph slipped the ball through the Crew defense with a slick pass from the outside of his foot. Peterson only had to tuck his shot past Andy Gruenebaum.
Kei Kamara, wearing a vampire-fang mouth guard, created the second near the close of the match. American international Teal Bunbury finished it to ice the result.
