Live Commentary

  • That's all for me tonight. This is Ives Galarcep, thanks for joining us on our live commentary coverage of Crew-Red Bulls. Be sure to check out all of Goal.com's MLS coverage this weekend and on Monday.
  • Columbus has a tough test next week as well, taking on Sporting Kansas City.
  • The Red Bulls take on FC Dallas next week, and with Zach Loyd and Michel drawing red cards for FC Dallas tonight, the Red Bulls will have a slightly easier time
  • The Red Bulls come back and tie things up. Pretty even match, can't say this isn't a fair result.
  • 90' + 2'
    SubstitutionLloyd Sam Ruben Bover
  • 90' + 1'
Ruben Bover replaces Lloyd Sam, who put in a solid shift tonight.
  • 90'
Four minutes of stoppage time at Crew Stadium, still tied 1-1.
  • 87'
    SubstitutionJ. Arrieta Adam Bedell
  • 87'
Adam Bedell replaces Jauir Arrieta. Still 1-1, now in the 88th minute.
  • 82'
Should be said that Federico Higuain has been kept largely quiet today. Red Bulls have done well to contain him.
  • 79'
Jonny Steele on for Peguy Luyindula, who didn't show much today.
  • 78'
    SubstitutionPéguy Luyindula Jonny Steele
  • 76'
    SubstitutionHector Jimenez Ethan Finlay
  • 69'
Henry with a soft shot at the Crew net, easily saved by Clark. Nice work from Sam on that build-up.
  • 68'
    SubstitutionJustin Meram Dominic Oduro
  • 67'
Nice ball from Lloyd Sam to find Wright-Phillips in the penalty area, but it was Wright-Phillips' touch that set up his finish, which hit off the inside of the far post, gave Clark no chance.
  • 66'
    Assist Lloyd Sam
  • 66'
    Goal Bradley Wright-Phillips
  • 66'
GOAL Red Bulls!! Nice finish from Wright-Phillips and we are all tied up at Crew Stadium.
  • 64'
BIG play from Luis Robles, to race out of the penalty area and get the ball away from an on-rushing Arrieta. Looked like Arrieta tripped before Robles even got to him.
  • 60'
Wright-Phillips whistled for offside. Red Bulls with a good spell of possession, but haven't tested Clarke lately.
  • 55'
Arrieta OFF THE POST! A clear loook from 12 yards out for the Costa Rican and he blasts it off the left post, then can't convert the rebound. Crew corner.
  • 54'
Tchani looks fine now, running without any pain.
  • 53'
Clark does well to slap awy a dangerous ball in fron Kimura. Red Bulls knocking on the door for an equalizer but still down 1-0.
  • 51'
SAVE CLARK! Denies a Thierry Henry shot from 16 yards out. Great diving stop. Red Bulls corner.
  • 50'
Tchani leaves the match grabbing his hamstring. Hasn't been subbed out yet, but looks likely to leave the match.
  • 49'
Tony Tchani down with a knee injury for the Crew. He was clipped from behind by Lloyd Sam.
  • 49'
Tony Tchani down with a knee injury for the Crew. He was clipped from behind by Lloyd Sam.
  • 46'
Second half is underway at Crew Stadium. No subs.
  • Pretty even first half, but Crew in control now with that one-goal lead. Does Berhalter have his team sit back a bit more or does he keep trying to push numbers forward and risk getting burned on the counter?
  • It's 1-0 Crew at the half. Fairly even game, though the Crew have had some of the better chances. Red Bulls had some looks as well, but Luis Robles has been tested much more than Steve Clark today.
  • 45' + 1'
    Yellow Card Bradley Wright-Phillips
  • 45'
Wright-Phillips called for a foul and shown yellow for the challenge on Higuain. Crew wanted more than a yellow. Not sure how that'd be a red card.
  • 44'
Crew free kick from the right wing, near the endline. Potentially dangerous for Higuain to work with.
  • 39'
    Penalty Goal J. Arrieta
  • 39'
Jairo Arrieta converts the penalty and it's 1-0 Crew. Blasts it past Robles.
  • 38'
PENALTY!! Kimura whistled for a foul on Justin Meram in the penalty area.
  • 35'
Olave heads away the corner and the whistle blows. Crew haven't done much with set pieces today.
  • 35'
    Crew corner kick
  • 31'
Some good work from Eric Alexander, but his cross isn't quite sharp enough. he's had a very active first 30 for the Red Bulls.
  • 27'
Nice work by Dax McCarty to step in front of Justin Meram and gain possession before drawing a foul. McCarty playing through some pain as he's had back issues that have hampered him.
  • 24'
Bradley Wright-Phillips has been quiet tonight. In part because of the efforts of Michael Parkhurst. And a soft Alexander shot goes right to Steve Clark.
  • 21'
SAVE Robles! Denies Federic Higuain, who blasts one from 25 yards out. That was heading to the top corner, but Robles stops it. Crew corner.
  • 18'
Francis SO close, works a nice give-and-goal and sends a dangerous shot just wide. Robles got a finger on it. Crew corner coming.
  • 17'
Steve Clark does to jump up and grab Henry's hopefully free kick from the wing. Still 0-0 in Columbus
  • 16'
Henry lining up a free kick from the right flank.
  • 14'
Good battle in the middle with McCarty and Trapp both having the task of trying to maintain some possession for their teams. Trapp has a slightly better partner in the middle than McCarty though.
  • 6'
Tony Tchani whistled for a stamp on the food of Bradley Wright-Phillips. Sees yellow for his trouble.
  • 6'
Shaky start for the Crew. Some uncharacteristic mistakes for Gregg Berhalter's side.
  • 5'
    Yellow Card Tony Tchani
  • 4'
Crew nearly burned for mis-reading the long ball at their back-line.
  • BIG save from Steve Clark to deny Eric Alexander. Red Bulls with a good start.
  • Some good matchups to watch tonight, such as Thierry Henry vs. Michael Parkhurst, Will Trapp and Federico Higuain vs. Dax McCarty and Peguy Luyindula. Roy Miller is key for the Red Bulls and hey they can catch the Crew on the counter.
  • The Crew are without Bernardo Anor, who is serving a red card suspension.
  • Lineups are in and as you can see there's no Tim Cahill in the starting lineup, but he is available off the bench.
  • Good evening folks. This is Ives Galarcep and I'll be bringing you live updates and commentary on tonight's Columbus Crew-New York Red Bulls clash at Crew Stadium
