Two penalties, an early ejection and a late equalizer all combined to keep Columbus and Houston level at 2-2 come the end of Wednesday night's MLS matchup.
Within the first dozen minutes the host side was down a man after Emmanuel Ekpo stiff-armed Adam Moffat in the face. Je-Vaughn Watson even gave Houston a half-time lead when his impressive ups allowed him to head home a Jermaine Taylor cross at the far post.
But in the second half Columbus clawed back. Two crosses led to two penalties - the first for a handball by Cam Weaver and the second a high kick by Watson. Andres Mendoza dispatched both.
Five minutes from time, Geoff Cameron cut a low cross sharply into the box and Calen Carr - wearing a protective black helmet ala Cristian Chivu or Petr Cech - one-timed the shot into the roof of the net to equalize.
