Columbus Crew 1-2 Chicago Fire: Mike Magee will not stop scoring

Magee moved into the joint-lead in MLS scoring by chesting home the winner against Columbus on Saturday.

Mike Magee has scored in each of his six Chicago Fire appearances in all competitions, the latest coming in a 2-1 win over the Columbus Crew.

In the opening minutes, Dominic Oduro stripped Austin Berry and sped toward goal. Sean Johnson rushed forward and spread his body as Oduro went down. Replays called into question the amount of contact made, if any. Federico Higuain was decidedly unbothered, thumping a penalty into the bottom corner to give the hos the lead.

The visitors pulled level seven minutes into the second half. Magee flipped the ball between two defenders as he was checked. Joel Lindpere curled a cross to the far post, where Dilly Duka stuck out a peg to deflect it into the ceiling of the net.

Two minutes later, Lindpere bent a similar cross into the box. Magee sped ahead of the Crew back line and chested the ball past Johnson.

Magee is now tied with Jack McInerney and Marco Di Vaio for the scoring lead with 10 goals in 2013.
