The Rapids and Whitecaps are tied on points in a hotly contested Western Conference, given extra credence to Saturday night's contest. The last time the Colorado Rapids and Vancouver Whitecaps met, Jose Mari scored a pair of late goals to turn the tide and give the Commerce City outfit a come-from-behind victory at BC Place.
That was nearly three months ago, and since then both sides have put themselves into the Western Conference playoff conversation. Sporting similar records, the Rapids (6-5-4) and Whitecaps (5-2-7) are comfortably among the group chasing the Seattle Sounders in the West race, with both Colorado and Vancouver sitting on 22 points heading into the final match of June.

The visitors got back from the World Cup break early, hosting Montreal in a dull 0-0 affair that did little to inspire. Vancouver will be looking to erase that lackluster outing against a very shorthanded Impact squad with a better performance at altitude.
It won't be easy, given Colorado's dominant form over the 'Caps at Dick's Sporting Good Park. A positive result for the Rapids on Saturday would see the end to Vancouver's six-match MLS unbeaten run, and it would also give Pablo Mastroeni's side three much-needed points after suffering three losses in the past six contests.
