DID YOU KNOW?
  • For the past seven seasons, a total of 14 games, the road team has won just once in this series. Chicago edges the all-time record, 17-11-8. The Fire won 2-1 in U.S. Open Cup play last season as well as posting a win and a draw in league play.
  • Colorado lost its first game under Oscar Pareja last week, a 4-1 loss to New York. Jeff Larentowicz missed the match due to suspension, bringing to a close his 73-game run of consecutive appearances. Larentowicz and former Rapid draftee Dan Gargan were high school teammates in Philadelphia, Penn.
  • Chicago fared better, beating Philadelphia 1-0. Dominic Oduro scored the goal, his second in as many games. He led the Fire with 12 last season.
  • That win, in the Fire's home opener, meant it took just one game for Chicago to reach the same number of wins it recorded in 11 home matches last season.
  • Colorado signed former U.S. international striker Kamani Hill this week. The 26-year-old has Bundesliga experience with VfL Wolfsburg and most recently played for Portugal's Vitoria S.C. Though he had trained fairly extensively with the San Jose Earthquakes, the Bay Area native was not picked up by his local MLS team.
  • Fire coach Frank Klopas indicated that U.S. U23 goalkeeper Sean Johnson won't play in this match. Johnson made the crucial error which allowed El Salvador to equalize in injury time of CONCACAF Olympic qualifying, meaning the U.S. won't feature in London this summer. In his stead, former Internazionale goalkeeper Paolo Tornaghi will hold on to the starting spot he secured in the Fire's first two games.
