DID YOU KNOW?
  • Since returning to the league in 2008, San Jose has beaten California rival Chivas USA just once in eight meetings.

  • Recent form, however, favors San Jose, which has lost just once in the past nine matches. Conversely, the Goats have won just once in the past eight.
  • All five of Steven Lenhart's goals this season have come in the past five games, including one in the 2-2 draw with the New York Red Bulls Saturday. The former Columbus Crew striker might want to watch him enthusiasm, however. If he picks up another caution, he will be suspended for yellow-card accumulation.
  • Nick LaBrocca, who notched the Goats' lone goal in a 1-1 draw with the Chicago Fire on Saturday, now has four goals in 2011. In his previous four MLS seasons he had five goals total.
  • Bobby Burling (suspension) and Alejandro Moreno (Copa America) will miss this game. Burling's absence will be especially telling with Ike Opara injured and Brandon McDonald recently traded to D.C. United. Jason Hernandez is the only available recognized centerback on the Earthquakes roster.
  • Chris Wondolowsi was available against New York for the first time since the Gold Cup. His return means Frank Yallop has his first-choice front three - Wondolowski, Lenhart and Simon Dawkins - available at the same time after fiddling around with attacking options throughout much of the season to date.
