Seattle's stars have been on fire this season, and combined to come back and get a result yet again.
A penalty just three minutes into the game gave the Goats the lead. Osvaldo Alonso was called for tackling Leandro Barrera from behind in the box, and Erick Torres scored his sixth of the year from the spot.
Seattle equalized in the 24th minute, with Chivas USA keeper Dan Kennedy completely at fault. Coming out to catch a free kick that had deflected straight up, the ball slipped through his hands, and after a touch by Dempsey off Chad Marshall, Lamar Neagle buried an easy shot.
Chivas USA was reduced to 10 men in the 73rd minute. Youngster Marky Delgado went in sloppily, caught Gonzalo Pinedo high on the ankle with his studs and was immediately sent off.
Seattle capitalized on the advantage not long after. Martins played a quick pass to Dempsey and the U.S. captain, charging forward, pulled the defense toward him before picking out Martins' diagonal run. With a looping finish over Kennedy, Martins made it 2-1.
Seattle jumps out to a 4-2-1 record with the win, three points behind MLS and conference leader Dallas. Chivas USA is 1-3-3, and hasn't won since the opening week of the season.
