Chivas USA took a derby win from the LA Galaxy on Saturday night thanks to a penalty from Jose Correa.
With David Beckham, Edson Buddle and Robbie Keane all out of the starting lineup for the Galaxy, the match was lacking some of its possible star power, but Juan Agudelo and Danny Califf were both in Chivas USA's starting team to bring back some of the intrigue.
Unfortunately, the game failed to live up to its SuperClasico name.
It took 72 minutes for the deadlock to be broken, but Chivas USA finally opened the scoring from the penalty spot.
David Junior Lopes gave up the penalty with a Luis Suarez-style handball on the line, getting the defender sent off in the process. Jose Correa put the penalty away twice - with the first waved off for a Chivas player entering the area too early and the second resulting in the game's only goal.
Despite Buddle and Beckham both being introduced to the match as substitutes, the Galaxy failed to find a way back, or even to really trouble Chivas USA's back line.
