Chivas USA 1-4 Houston Dynamo: Houston puts on strong showing

Andrew Fielding

Chivas USA once again took an early lead but a strong comeback from the Dynamo earned the Texas club three points.

Erick Torres once again handed Chivas USA a lead, and the club fell to another strong comeback as Houston scored three goals before halftime in taking a 4-1 win.

Brad David took Carlos Alvarez down in the Houston box six minutes in. Torres stepped up to covert and give the home side an early lead.

Houston was back level five minutes later, with Davis atoning for his mistake at the other end. Davis picked up the ball at the top of the box and wiggled past two defenders before slipping a left-footed shot into the corner.

Giles Barnes put the Dynamo in front in the 32nd when he was set up by Boniek García, and Houston would make it 3-1 in first-half stoppage time. Corey Ashe's cross found Will Bruin, who finished to give the Dynamo a two-goal lead heading to the break.

Things got worse for Chivas USA in the 68th when Tim Melia was shown a red card for a foul on Bruin inside the box. Barnes put the penalty away to give the game its final scoreline.
